Interesting place, I just looked it up! it seems that this is an Elizabethan gatehouse which was built on the site of the original abbey church, presumably from the original stonework. It piqued my curiosity because no abbey would have crenelations. An impressive building and an excellent shot!

It is truly a facade. Behind this standing wall there's not much more then a few walls to keep the thing stable and ruins. It's one of the most facinating ruins I've ever seen.

I'm not sure about the wrecked buildings. I know a lot of them got destroyed but I'm not sure if all of them were.

Great photo. Is this abbey also in ruins? I had read up that all the abbeys had been destroyed at one point in UK's past. The facade of this building really looks good and this is a really great photo.
