Description While the red haired Galen DeMarco has not been a Judge for some time she has been a reoccurring presence in Judge Dredds world.

Appearing in the Judge Dredd story 'The Pit', Galen DeMarco was a street Judge of one of the worst sectors in Mega City One. Rife with corruption, Dredd was sent to take command, a position he chaffed in but proved up to task to bring it back from the brink.

DeMarco was one of the few truly competent Judges but she had an unfortunate flaw that she had no real desire to iron out, her need for physical and emotional intimacy ( love, it's just not popular with Justice Department ).

She was already having an affair with a fellow street Judge, which ended when they were discovered. Following this DeMaroc had a near meteoric rise to sector chief, during which she requested Dredd to provide support.

While she did indeed require his assistance, it was also motivated by the fact that she had fallen in love with him, going as far as to kiss Dredd,( possibly the first time Dredd was ever truly been taken off guard ).

Dredd rebuffed her, but did not report her, an action that was used against Dredd by another Judge with an axe to grind and recorded footage of the kiss.

While 'unjudicial' activities of this kind are not in all honesty the most serious of crimes a Judge can commit ( a Judge does not get 20 years on Titan for it, but something along the lines of a demotion, a reprimand, probably some tedious retraining, or they are kicked off the force ) It has to be dealt with.

It looked bad on Dredd, who received a reprimand, while DeMarco, who was quite comfortable with who she was, had no interest in ever changing her behavior, and quit being a Judge.

Instead DeMarco became a Private Investigator, her skills as a Judge and former connections to Justice Department providing an advantage in the field.

Most recently she has been a minor supporting character for the Wally Squad member Judge Point, in the 'Simping Detective'

Dredd always said the DeMarco was one of the best field judges he had ever worked with. Yes, she made mistakes and, ultimately, her lack of discipline meant that she had no place in the near-monastic Mega City One Justice Department but he had never, ever doubted her loyalty to both the letter and the spirit of The Law above all other things.

Mega City One Universal Criminal Code
Article 1
"Above all else is The Law."

Article 1, Subsection A
"One Law for all men, without fear or favour."

I agree, i think she would have made a great Brit-Cit judge/detective, if i recall right they are far less monastic.
