Thanks, I like the classic design of Captain America, although i didn't bother with the scales. Now that i think about it I should have drawn Captain Atom in his classic design, but i wanted to show what he's currently looking like ( i don't expect it to last, hopefully ). I might draw another picture with these characters.
It would be a really formidable team up.

Actually it's Carol, due to my dislike of her guts (man is Claremont obsession with her painful when binge-reading !). The 3 others I enjoy, especially Steve (in his Gruenwald version), Cap Atom (who shares his first name with 3 of my favorite Marvel characters XD) and Karen (in her solo or JLE...).
Man I never noticed that 3 of them are captains !

Ohohoho, Claremont is tame compared to Marvel as a whole these days.

On the bright side, I've only read one bad story featuring Carol since Marvel began pushing her as their flagship heroine (namely Civil War II...a story where everyone is so unlikable that the only likable character is HYDRA Cap. When I'm rooting for the brainwashed hero to screw everyone over, then the story has failed on a fundamental level. The only reason I even got Civil War II in the first place was because it was in the bargain section for $12, a very reasonable price if you ask me). Everything else has been perfectly fine when it comes to Carol.

So there's apparently a trend of captains being weird. Awesome work here

It isn't a good look for him really. I'm still expecting the red look to be temporary before Caps classic look emerges, but with his miniseries concluded it seems it might be a while yet. Still, they did manage to establish his character being closer to the classic version, so that was good.

Yeah that a good thing, and has potential to explore later.... unlike anything at marvel.

*three years later*
And then Marvel had the BRILLIANT idea to outright confirm that Carol killed Tony and the one we got back was merely an imitation. As if Carol's detractors needed any more reason to hate her.

Oh boy, so they're really going to try and shove Rori up our asses the second time by force instead of quality? Great... on the other hand, I only care for Black Widow movie now to see it and close down MCU for good. And I have a feeling that comicbook industry will not survive that long even considering late events.
On a side note, have you really just commented under every comment from 2017?

Not by intention. Also, I haven't really heard anything about Riri since Tony came back, so I think it's more that Dan Slott was trying to have us question whether or not the Tony Stark that returned was the genuine article, but failed to realize what the impact the reveal that the real Tony died in Civil War II would have on Carol's already tarnished reputation.

They aren't, Marvel just likes to blame their fans for failing book sales and not their own terrible writing choices.

Originally there was a fair bit of dialogue planned for each character, but in the end i felt it needed trimming. Thanks.

True enough, most silly alterations get fixed... eventually.
Its a pairing that hasn't been done as far as i know, but actually could work.

Marvel: We're not stopping until we make all your favourite long term characters evil and make you have to like all those legacy characters we've been forcing on you, because it worked with Superior Spider-Man andΒ Kamala Kahn right? Right? Are we still friends?

EternalCyclops In reply to derekmetaltron [2020-05-15 22:24:51 +0000 UTC]
I mean, it worked with Superior Spider-Man, that's for sure. Now, if only you didn't make him strike a deal with Mephisto, we would be friends. As it stands, I want Mephisto to get punched in the face already.

Marvel seem intent on making things awkward to new readers who having watched the movies or cartoons, might want to read their heroics in comics.

I've had an easy time reading about Marvel's A-List heroes. Then again, I make sure to do my research to make sure I'm not getting cheated out of the characters I want to read about.

Yeah it's a bit of a weird thing with Marvel where on the one hand they try to appeal to movie watchers by focusing on characters currently in vogue, yet also try to shove as much new and politically diverse stuff as possible in. I don't think it's a bad thing we have them so much as the need to have it all happen at once and decry any critics of the over-practice as sexist or racist or such.
But yes, I remember trying to explain Marvel's current comic situation to my brother in law who liked the movies and his expression was priceless.

I've been trying my damndest to shut off the whole Hydra Cap, but between the fans and Nick Spencer it's like someone broke my filters.Β
Cap has always been a personal hero of mine and to see him used as a ploy for marketing of good guy turned evil is.... insulting.
I hope after Secret Empire we get a huge shift in editorial and creative teams akin to more of the writers from DC. Who actually loves these characters without spewing their political agendas.

Wait, what fans other than me have actually defended HYDRA Cap? I thought I was the only one who thought the story was an interesting concept despite the so-so execution.

EternalCyclops In reply to Marvelguru [2020-05-16 19:05:15 +0000 UTC]
Oh...so people who probably aren't real fans of Cap, but rather are sycophants of Nick Spencer (and I say that as someone who's generally enjoyed Nick Spencer's work). Yeah, I've run into that myself with Donny Cates' fans. They go on and on about how he's the only good writer Marvel has, and I'm like "Eh, he's okay. Could do without the need to go on Twitter to understand the story".

I believe it. I dropped off of Spider-Man shortly after finishing Superior's first run because I started reading the other titles Marvel was putting out, particularly Thor and the various Avengers titles, so you could say I was spared from the slime. Still, it's nice to see that Spidey is back in top form. Now, if only Spencer would restore the marriage already.

At the moment. The New 52 unstable energy version of Captain Atom shifted in time and evolved into a stable form with a metallic red shell and powers much like his original DC incarnation, i'm hoping that the red shell will be a chrysalis for the classic Captain Atom colours to emerge from.
