Media: Pencil & PITT pen on Strathmore Drawing Paper, then colored in Adobe Photoshop CS2
This is a Jade cover done for DC Comics, which ultimately won't be published. It happens; that's life as a freelancer. But YOU get to see it! Whee!
DC wanted a very specific design - the character flying at the reader against a white background.
******UPDATE*******
Due to the overwhelming number of people responding with variations on "I can't believe DC rejected this", I have to clarify something.
DC Comics did not reject this art. The art was accepted and I was paid. After I handed in the cover, I was told it wasn't going to be used for its intended purpose, so it they're holding on to it for a future use.

Almost had the honor of owning this. Had an agreement in place with the seller, had made 3 of 5 payments for it, and then he yanked it off the table and said he was selling it to someone else unless I paid the rest of what I owed him, PLUS an extra $450. I told him he should honor our agreement; he told me to pound sand.
Beautiful work, sir, but unfortunately one associated with a bitter memory for me.

Is it simply an optical illusion from the coloring process, or did the angle of her head change slightly in the colored version?

Question for you Adam: In this piece its a bit easier for you to decide(i think) what to ink and what to leave for CS2 since you did the entire piece beginning to end, but what i am curious about is the area to the left of her jaw.
In the pencil/PITT drawing, you have some areas seriously darkened out, which i would interpret to be inked if it were passed to me. What was the though process in deciding to use CS2 for that area over solid blacks and hatching?

I'm a little confused by your comments.... "some areas... interpret to be inked" is one. The whole piece IS inked; it's an inked illustration. And by "area to the left of her jaw", I'm going to have to assume you mean the hatching & cross-hatching on her right trapezius.
I didn't choose CS2 over the inks in that area; I just converted the lines to color. I think it's hard to see because of the size of the JPEG. My reasoning was that the area in question is supposed to be white fabric, and to have such high-contrast rendering on the whites would have been in conflict with the approach I was taking, so... I converted the lines to color. I did the same thing to much of the lineart on her face.
