So, I just joined a group called "Improvement Club" , where you can submit art and have other deviants do draw-overs, edits, etc. Very neat idea, glad I stumbled upon it. I committed to do at least one draw-over a month, so here is my first one.

submitted this piece: , and asked for some feedback, specifically on the big mutant arm. I basically just reverse-engineered the drawing, going back to her basic under-drawing, and then working it as though it were my own. I beefed up the arm, tried to indicate the basic anatomical forms, and did my best to keep things proportional and symmetrical (except in those places where she was making things deliberately asymmetrical). Its a cool piece, great gesture with a nice creepy vibe to the anatomy. Hopefully this will be useful to her if she decides to rework the piece.

Some caveats, which will likely be my standard caveats for draw-overs:

I'm not perfect. My draw-overs might contain as many errors in anatomy, proportion and perspective as the original drawing, in fact. Hopefully, I'll get *different* things wrong, so you can put them together and still get some genuine improvements made. But no promises.

You are the boss, obviously. If I am completely full of s**t in my suggestions, please ignore them without hesitation; I won't be offended. I draw kind-of stylized, so the way I do things may not work for you. If anything I suggest is helpful, use that and ignore the rest. Its what I do with critiques, and IMO the best way to take feedback without abandoning your own judgement, which as an artist you should never do.

This kind of critique tends to automatically focus on what's "wrong", but don't forget that you are almost certainly doing way more that's right. Don't let critique rob you of your enthusiasm for your own work; because liking your work in general makes the process so much easier, and life as a whole more fun.
