Description Close up of some details from my HUGE Mass Effect piece. Here you can see the parts of Liara and Grunt that Shepard and Kaidan or Ashley usually cover.

I had something of a breakthrough on texturing with this piece. This section shows it best, I think, between the headfin details and freckles on Liara, the various bits of Thane's coat, and Mordin's face.

Can I say how much I love Liara? Because I love that girl. Every time she speaks I just want to hug her, she's so cute. When I took my Prime-FemShep Nica through Lair of the Shadow Broker, it was just so emotional and thrilling to see the two star-crossed lovers come together again. Nica and Liara are just... dawwwwwwww.

Sounds pretty much how I feel about Merril in Dragon Age 2. She's got such a lovely voice and accent, plus everything she says is just so darn cute!

Ah, Merril. How I wanted to set you straight. Though Mass Effect is easily the superior franchise, I'll say this for DA - the casual conversations between squadmates as you travel around is fantastic and something ME desperately needs. Walking around and listening to the banter between Isabella and Merril or Isabella and Aveline... Isabella and ANYBODY, for that matter! That's the stuff that made you fall in love with those characters.

I love the random conversations; I'll go out of my way to hit the trigger-points for them. When playing Origins, I once spent a half hour walking across the Orzammar bridge, exiting the level, then coming back to trigger another one. I just kept rotating characters until they ran out of things to say.

Isabella is an amazingly fun character, but Merril's definitely my favourite of the support characters, plus she has some hilarious commentary when you're talking to NPCs for quests and such. And, interesting tidbit, the voice actress for Merril is the female lead in the Torchwood series, if you've seen it.

That's pretty clever. I'd never paid close enough attention to the trigger points to force my way through all the conversations before. You're a thinker, you are.

Isabella is my favorite, but a lot of that is how she's the most entertaining match for all the other characters. Everybody who has fun stuff to say has FUNNER stuff to say with Isabella. She's totally my kind of girl. And I didn't realize Merril = Torchwood, but I should have. It's obvious once you tell me, and I always thought that Gwen had a super adorable voice. How I never put the two together I just don't know.

I heard Merril's voice and thought it was familiar, so I hunted down the credits. So Merril is officially Welsh.

The whole cast if DA2 characters is a crew that I could enjoy hanging out with. Except for Fenris, 'cause he's a whiny bitch. I tried liking him, but even when I sided with the templars, I still couldn't stand him.

Yeah... Fenris was tough. Unless you romanced him, in which case you got some very good scenes. I actually thought ladies had a hard go of it in DA2 - if you wanted a straight romance, you only had Fenris or Anders. One's a terrorist, the other's gonna hate you if you're a mage. I enjoy that the two options are on polar-opposite sides of the debate, but neither stands out as an obviously awesome choice.

I'm saying there's no Alistair in this game.

Very true. As much as I like Anders (and he was much better in Awakenings), he really deserves to die by the end. There's Sebastian, but he's got a stick up his butt (and Andraste on his codpiece X) ). They should've let Varric be a romantic option; that guy's a blast to hang out with. Plus, the ladies all swoon over his chest hair; just ask him.

Fun fact: I named my first DA2 character "Varrick," not knowing that the dwarf's name was "Varric." Stacy and I were kind of confused when he showed up.
