Description Ah, yes, my titles are superb.

So! For those wondering about the Kickstarter, I shall release more info asap >.> but moving on!

For those not following my Art Tumblr account, I'm doing a teeeeny, tiny mini comic (three pages) for my bestie as a late Christmas present. As requested, it's actually a shippy comic between Bats and Supes--it's really vanilla and fluffy, so no worries, but for those who don't ship it, that's cool! Just three pages you can skip ;D (I'll be posting these pages to dA when they're all finished)

I, uh, also decided to mirror the style of Darwyn Cooke… because I just really love his style and wanted to draw similarly to it for a couple pages >.> it's fun to learn from the masters.

I usually keep my drawings as aromantic as possible, hell, pretty sure the closest I've gotten to drawing a pairing on this profile is Dick and Babs sort-of hugging, and a flirt off between James Bonds and Hawkeye… heh. That said, I will always make exceptions for friends and have fun drawing random romantic things ;D it's just not a normal thing… and won't really become one.

Anywaaaay, enjoy the step-by-step of the second page, courtesy of boredom!

How long does it take you to complete a page? That city landscape has to take a day alone. Beautiful.

Hmm, each page takes around 5 to 12 hours depending on the complexity but I can't say for certain how long this one took me… I was drawing it off an on throughout several days whenever I had the time. The cityscape definitely took the longest, but I took a couple short cuts by using easier, one-point perspective cities are definitely my weak point… I'm so glad you think it came out well, it was still quite a challenge to draw! I wish I could give a definitely amount of time for an answer, haha

You do it the opposite way from me.  I start with sketches of figures.  then penciled in text.  then inking the figures.  then backgrounds.  colors last.

That's a good way to do it! Sometimes I start out with the sketches of figures, I guess it depends on what is more important in the scene, the background or the character. Although lately I've been doing as much with colors and backgrounds as possible first because it takes less concentration for me, haha.

Sketches take me anywhere from 20 minutes to two hours.  The coloring takes me over 8 hours.  Because I'm so indecisive with coloring.  I have to find just the right color.  and overlays.  so many overlays.  and shading.  and so on.

Maybe someday we should collab on a comic.  I'd do the outline, you could do the colors, to save ourselves some time.

Aaaaaugh, I know what you mean! The sketches kill me usually, I actually do around four layers of sketches before I do the line art… I'm actually a bit embarrassed to say how long it takes for me to do sketches and lineart X'D

Hm, for a page like this it probably takes a 8-ish hours in total because I have a set palette for colors… Limiting colors helps a lot, there's a lot less thinking.

For my work pages I take… 12 hours… or more Q_Q half line art and half colors, and yes, I use… SO many overlays!

I think a collar comic would be so much fun!! Especially coming up with a fun little storyline, too. And yes, I would love doing the colors, and not doing the sketches/outlines would be such a nice break!!

Hmm, hmm, hmmmm…. Well, I'm guessing we're gonna be doing a Batman fan comic, right? Those are just so fun and have so many possibilities! X'D

Would we be doing something that's sort of Alternate-Universe-y (like the one I'm doing now), oooor something that follows more of the canon story lines?

I love AUs, mostly because there's so much freedom and, strangely enough, there are so many unexplored possibilities! But doing something with the actual costumes would be great AND great practice… haha. So I'm cool with all sorts of ideas!

And then we can decide if we want it to be serious with humors undertones or crack… and how long!

yeah, a batman fancomic.  I haven't thought of anything specific yet.

AU or something from before the new52 would be good.  Something that was maybe talked about but never drawn or a what if?  maybe.
I think we should start with one page one shot comic.  And see how it goes from there.  humour or serious is fine with me.  Any prefrence for bat-characters we should focus on?

p.s.  I emailed you some Cass Cain comics, from her solo series (first 10 issues,  25, and 39-41), from Robin and Superboy, and from Gotham Knights.

Aah, thank you so much!

I know the process is different for everyone, and I've definitely learned from the tutorials I've seen… so I'm always happy to post what I do, in hopes that it will help someone else! C:
