Excerpt from Codex Arcana
Erebor Mornegard, also known as the "Architect of Despair", was the creative genius behind the Vorga Maelstrom. Erebor was not just a builder; he was a visionary, a sorcerer gifted with a knack for architectural magic. His unique gift allowed him to create structures not only sturdy and imposing but also imbued with magical energy, making every stone alive with his will.
The Maelstrom was his masterpiece, originally intended as a sanctuary to honor the ancient gods. However, in pursuing his arcane research, Erebor discovered an ancient and terrible form of magic, a magic that could bring his labyrinth to life. By incorporating this magic into the Maelstrom, he accidentally awakened a dark entity that slumbered deep within the Earth.
It was he who made the painful decision to turn his sanctuary into a prison, hoping to contain the malevolent creature he had unleashed. Erebor Mornegard vanished soon after, leaving behind his accursed labyrinth, a constant reminder of his tragic error. It is said that his final days were spent seeking a way to seal the Maelstrom and the creature it contained, but he never returned.
