Sorry to burst everyones bubbles, but this axolotl most likely died. They are not suppose to be kept on gravel because they will eat it. When they eat it, it blocks their digestive system. After a few days they will die. I keep axolotls, and yes they are cute, but if you get one please do your research. I love these guys to death, but a lot of them die because of owners who don't know what theyre doing. Please don't take offense, I just want to prevent these guys from dying due to simple gravel.

this axolotl is likely alive and well. Β Adults are plenty large enough to pass tiny gravel like this. Β (have you seen the size of their poop?) I keep my Axies on a slate-bottomed tank, but I know other owners who keep them with this gravel and have had happy healthy pets for years. Β It's larger gravel that causes a problem. Β

Such a beautiful shot!
It bothers me though, how people compare the ACTUAL animal to something like a Pokemon. I love Pokemon, but Mudkip was obviously based off of the Axolotl, not the other way around

Haha, it's mostly Wooper though, I don't like Mudkip that much. Wooper is much more awesome and alike an Axolotl.
I love the Axolotl though. Much more than a cartoon creature

I'm thinkin' about having one for my b-day! Ther carnivores though and a zoo/farm place near here feeds them blood worms, I wouldn't to pick that up and put it in YUK! Although you gotta do wot u gotta do and I can't believe there so cute I would love to just hug one. But besides all that really good photo he (or she) probably is at his (or her) cutest in that look at his or (her) tiny mouth.
