A dispute on the streets of Jakarta between a policewoman and the pickpocket whom she has arrested as to whether it was proper for a “mere woman” to “shame” him by putting him in handcuffs. The man protested valiantly that such an action was against the laws of God, against nature and forbidden by all that was righteous.
Unsurprisingly, Officer Indah Sukatenel disagreed profoundly.
“Restraining a suspect is permitted by both Indonesia National Police regulations,” she told her prisoner whike keeping tight hold of the struggling man’s arm, “and Indonesian law!”
Suffice it to say, Indah won her argument. By the time back up arrived, the smiling policewoman had the man securely handcuffed - and, much to his fury, behind his back too!
