Robert gritted his teeth as waves of pain spread out from his blistered posterior, desperately trying not to give his aunt the satisfaction of hearing him begin to cry. “Let me know when you are willing to apologise for your cheek, young man.” Julia added superciliously, quickening the speed of the lad’s hiding.
‘Never!’ the proud teenager told himself, but the relentless walloping took his toll. “Now for the slipper!” his aunt told him just as he thought his agonising ordeal was at last over. Robert couldn’t help himself: he burst into tears.
