“Er, could we just stop here for a moment, ladies?” Ernesto suddenly asked as Isabella and Maria walked him down the steps of the Town Hall.
“Don’t mess about, Ernesto,” replied Isabella impatiently, “Maria and I were due off shift an hour ago and we’ve still got to do your paperwork!” The older woman nodded. “That’s right, you jerk, the last thing we wanted to do was be called to arrest an idiot flasher at the police commissioner’s headquarters.” she added.
“Yes, ma’am,” responded Ernesto with a slightly desperate tone to his voice, “but I do have a bit of a problemo. We really do need to stop walking now!”
The urgency in their prisoner’s voice gave the two policewomen pause and so they halted, looking at Ernesto quizzically. A moment or two passed and then the man sighed deeply. “Accident averted, ladies.” the man proclaimed, a grin of relief on his face.
“For God’s sake!” exclaimed Maria in irritation. “Let’s go!”
Isabella looked bemused and then vaguely disgusted. “Ew, Ernie!” she cried, nose crinkling, “you are such a pervert!”
Then the two women pushed their smiling captive quickly down the steps towards their car.
“All in day’s work for you girls, I imagine,” Ernesto smirked.
