The two policewomen continued to stride towards us across the open field, completely unafraid.

The three of us looked at each other. The thought of years inside an Indonesian prison was unbearable, but the alternative - shooting two unarmed female cops - just seemed absurd, seeing as these girls were just going to keep on coming.
We sighed in unison and bent to place our guns on the grass in front of us. “It’s ok, ladies!” I called back to the two advancing women. “We surrender!” You know, the two witches actually laughed at that?
A few minutes later, I knelt on the soft ground with my hands on my head, forced to watch while my humiliated buddies, also on their knees, were handcuffed behind their backs by the two smiling and chattering Indonesian women.
