Description
To me the "Birds of Prey" is a group of courageous women standing against human trafficking, slavery and of course any forms of "machismo". Here are the characters background.
Dinah Lance, the Black Canary:
Dinah Laurel lance is a tough, but good-natured, idealistic former DHS agent. Her mother Dinah Drake Lance is a founder of a feminist group of female bikers, The Black Canaries, after her ex boyfriend has forbidden her to ride. Thus she decided to teach her daughter to become a strong and independent woman. Following her father in law’s advice (Larry Lance), Dinah Lance first joined the DHS, as a brilliant analyst due to her acute deduction skills. She rapidly becomes a field officer and, while on assignment in Gotham, developed a close working relationship with the Dark Knight.
She is proficient in hand-to-hand combat and a skilled marksman. Naturally, she becomes the Birds of Prey field commander.
Barbara Gordon, the oracle:
Barbara is the leader of the Birds of Prey and the daughter of Dark Knight's closest ally James Gordon. She is deeply traumatized as a result of an ambush by the Joker in her apartment, and reinvented herself as Oracle. She possesses an information network, a photographic memory, and extreme hacking and programming skills. Since her altercation, she has developed a type of agoraphobia, and thus she always directs the team remotely. Barbara and Dinah Lance are close friends (Barbara having helped Dinah through low periods in Dinah's life).
Helena Bertinelli, The Huntress:
Prone to use of excessive force, Bertinelli is a former kingpin’s daughter who was devastated at a young age when her family was killed in a mob hit. Trained by her assassin cousin in the art of violence, she declared war on the mob in the name of justice.
Mari Jiwe McCabe:
Mari was born in Zambesi, a fictional country of Africa. She inherited her family's "Tantu" totem, a necklace granting the wearer the ability to channel the skills/abilities of several animals. Mari is a recurring field agent for Oracle.
