Description NOTE: Now back to your regular RWBY programming.

NOTE 2: I’m joining both “Jaunedice” parts.

After the events of the last chapter, things have going smoothly. My teammates have fully mastered the Aura-controlling techniques, and their Semblances have gotten stronger with an extended duration and range. In addition, Skye and I have started dating. All in all, nothing to complain about.

If only other teams could say the same thing.

We were in sparring class watching Cardin basically beat Jaune into a dry pulp (no blood, before you ask). “Can we step in now?” Kendra asked me. “We may not be close friends, but isn’t this too much?”

“I’m sure Cardin can control himself,” I replied a second before he raised his mace. “Then again, I’ve been wrong before.” I threw my knife (handle first) at the emergency stopper as Skye shot a long yet miniaturized King Taijitu towards Cardin’s mace. Both objectives hit their marks, and the match ended with Cardin’s weapon ending up in Skye’s hands.

“Do you two always have to intervene?” Professor Goodwitch asked with a raised eyebrow. “I was just about to end it.” Skye and I pointed at Kendra, who shot us glares in return. Goodwitch gave out a heavy sigh. “Never mind. Students, as…”

“I just don’t see why I have to sit through this class,” Skye complained quietly. “Thanks to that deal with Ozpin and our Sensei, I won’t be able to take part of ANY tournament.”

“At least YOU know your place in this,” Kendra retorted. “The rest of have to wait for our ‘fearless leader’ to decide on signing up or not.”

I sighed. “Ladies, remember that Vytal Tournament will be broadcasted all over Remnant. Even I don’t know how the public will react to Skye’s abilities. And Kendra, do you WANT to be humiliated in front of the entire world? I’m just making sure that the conditions are right.”

“You mean you’re hoping the rest of your former babysitters don’t come to beat you up for chickening out.” One second later, Kendra was rubbing her head from the slap I gave her. “It was just a bad joke, no need to rub it in.”

“Hey, Skye,” Cardin called out. “Class is over. Can I have my mace back now?” The weapon soon hit Cardin’s chest. “Thanks a lot.”

“Skye,” I commented as we left the room. “Cardin may be a jerk, but could you please not be so rough on him?”

Skye snickered as she tickled my chin. “No promises. Besides, he had enough Aura to block the full blow.”

Later, we were in the cafeteria with teams RWBY and JNPR, listening to Nora’s dreams. “Nora, can you please stop?” Sebastian asked. “Your dreams are getting really annoying.”

“Well, I like them,” I countered. “It's nice to hear fake adventures instead of remembering the real fiascos I had to endure with the Huntsman babysitters my mom stuck me with all the time. And no, you can't hear them; they're above your training levels.”

“Jaune,” Pyrrha asked suddenly. “Are you okay?”

Jaune jumped a bit before answering. “Oh, yeah. Why?”

This time, Ruby answered. “It's just that you seem a little... not okay.”

We all looked at Jaune as he talked. “Guys, I'm fine. Seriously! Look!”

“You're pulling the same ridiculous face most of us used back home,” Dina commented before looking at a specific location. “And I think we all know at least ONE source of your anxiety.” We all turned to see team CRDL picking on a Faunus girl.

I noticed Kendra’s hands tightening. “Wait until she's out of range first,” I advised with a whisper.

“Jaune, Cardin's been picking on you since the first week of school,” Pyrrha complained.

“And as a team full of tacticians, we have to agree with Pyrrha,” I commented with my teammates nodding in agreement.

Jaune scoffed. “Who? Cardin Winchester? Nah... He just likes to mess around! You know, practical jokes!”

“He's a bully,” Ruby and Skye retorted with glares.

Jaune merely scoffed again. “Oh, please. Name one time he’s ‘bullied’ me.”

“He knocked down the books in your arms several dozen times,” Sebastian commented.

“Not to mention the few times he activated your shield while you were going through a door,” Dina added.

“And the one time he stuffed you in a rocket-locker and blasted you out of the school,” Kendra finalized.

We all looked at Jaune as he answered. “I didn’t land far from the school.”

“Jaune, you know if you ever need help, you can ask,” Pyrrha reminded him.

“And it’s better if you DO ask,” Kendra asked. “Otherwise, your friends may want to help in a not-so-helpful way.”

“Oh!” Nora stated with her crazy grin. “We’ll break his legs!”

“Like THAT,” I stated as Jaune got up.

“Guys, really,” Jaune insisted before leaving. “It’s fine! Besides, it’s not like he’s only a jerk to me. He’s a jerk to everyone but Joaquín, for some reason I don’t understand.”

“Atrocious,” Pyrrah muttered as CRDL’s latest victim got away. “I can’t stand people like him.”

“He’s not the only one,” Blake replied.

“It must be hard to be a Faunus,” Yang commented off-hand.

“Heightened senses are a good counter-balance,” I replied while giving Kendra a small marble, which she rolled underneath Cardin. She waited until Cardin was distracted with Jaune before triggering it, causing a large stink cloud to emerge. “HEY, CARDIN! THERE WEREN’T ANY BEANS IN TODAY’S LUNCH! ARE YOU SURE YOU’RE NOT LACTOSE INTOLERANT AND/OR A SKUNK FAUNUS?!” Everybody started laughing at him.

Later, most of us were in Dr. Oobleck’s class, listening to another portion of the Faunus War. While most people complained about sore necks, my team was probably the only one who could keep an eye on the ever-quick doctor without turning our heads so much.

“…what is the answer?” Dr. Oobleck asked Jaune, who was sitting next to me and was annoyed by Cardin into answering.

He struggled, and, misunderstanding Pyrrah’s hints, replied “Binoculars! OW!” The last part was from me flicking the side of his head.

“Very funny, Mr. Arc,” Oobleck replied. “Mr. Pallanza, please refrain your impatience. Cardin! Perhaps you would like to share your thoughts on the subject?!”

“Well, I know it’s a lot easier to train an animal than a soldier. OW!” This time, it was Skye who flicked Cardin’s head. After that, Skye and I kept quiet while Pyrrah and Blake answered the question correctly.

“Perhaps if he’d paid attention in class, he wouldn’t have been remembered as such a failure,” Blake concluded while looking at Cardin.

Cardin tried to get up, but Skye growled at him. “Mr. Winchester,” Dr. Oobleck replied calmly. “Please take your seat.” I covered Jaune’s mouth to keep him from snickering, but it was too late. “You AND Mr. Arc can both see me after class for additional readings. Mr. Pallanza and Ms. Skye, please stay behind as well. Now, moving on!”

“I’ll wait outside,” Kendra whispered to me before she left the room.

“You two have been struggling in my class since day one,” Dr. Oobleck told Jaune and Cardin before turning to me and Skye. “And YOU TWO have been disrupting in ALL your classes since day one. Now, I don’t know if it’s a lack of interest, or just your stubborn natures. But, whatever it is, it stops NOW. You’ve worked hard to gain entrance to this school and we only accept the best of the best. So, I expect you to act like it. History is important, lady and gentlemen. If you can’t learn from it, you’re destined to repeat it. Mr. Pallanza and Ms. Skye, I just wanted you to hear the speech. As for these two ignorant ‘leaders’, pages 51 to 91; I want an essay on my desk by next class. Now, run along.”

Skye and I were the first to leave after Oobleck. “Let me guess,” Kendra stated. “Something about acting more responsibly and Jaune and Cardin getting extra work.”

Cardin then pushed Jaune down before walking away. “What gave it away?” I confirmed sarcastically yet with a serious tone.

“You know,” Pyrrha commented as she helped Jaune up. “I really will break his legs.” We all kept quiet before she dragged Jaune away. “I have an idea. Here, come with me!”

“Kendra,” I started. “Could you keep an eye on Jaune, please?”

“Why me?” she asked. “Why not any of the others?”

Skye crossed my arms. “Because Joaquín and I are already on thin ice as is. And out of our entire team, you’re the stealthiest in this case. Although I still don’t get why we have to worry about Jaune.”

“He’s our friend,” I complained. “Didn’t you see him? Whatever secret he’s holding up, it’s tearing him apart from within. As a guy who went through the exact same thing, I know that WILL NOT go well.”

Kendra sighed in defeat. “I hate it when you’re right.” She started walking Pyrrha’s rush path. “See you later.”

Skye waited until Kendra was out of earshot before speaking. “She’s hiding something, too, isn’t she?”

“Yeah,” I replied. “And while I prefer not to rush secrets, I rather have her reveal it out of her own free will instead of external pressure, like Jaune’s. Or mine,” I added with a sigh.

“Good point,” Skye conceded as we walked to our room. “You think her secret or Jaune’s will have any effect on their friendships or teams?”

“We’ll see,” was all I said.

Kendra’s POV (unknown location)

I watched as Jaune and Pyrrha arrived on the roof. I heard and saw everything, despite the time and distance. Pyrrha, you have GOT to work on your conversation skills, I thought at first.

Then I heard her proposal to train Jaune. Don’t reject this opportunity, you screwball.

Afterwards, they got into a fight so intense that Jaune spilled his secret: his past, his lying, his motives, everything. I felt my face forming a frown. No wonder Joaquín was so worried about the guy.

My frown deepened as Pyrrha walked away. Oh, God, I thought as logic and personality fought in my head. What do I do now?

Suddenly, Cardin appeared and basically blackmailed him into doing his work. My face shifted into one of determination. At least I now know what to do first. I just hope the others can forgive me for this.

Normal POV (our room)

“You’re crazy,” Sebastian exclaimed loudly.

Dina crossed her arms in annoyance. “Secrets can affect a team’s performance, but did you have to come up with such a horrible plan?”

“I don’t like it, either,” I sighed in defeat. “However, the sooner we get those doubts out of our heads, the less shock we’ll have to—” Suddenly there was a knock on the window. “This would explain her love of berries,” I muttered as I opened it to let our teammate in.

Kendra flew in, large blue jay wings on her back. Once she landed, her wings shrank while folding on her back. She then turned to the rest of us with a solemn expression on her face. “I’m sorry for not telling you guys about this before, but I—”

I interrupted her by placing a hand over her shoulder. “You’re talking to a guy who’s seen more crazy and White Fang in his childhood than most people will in their entire lives. Do I act ANYTHING like Cardin?”

“Yeah,” Dina replied. “This just means that our team is more diverse than it already was!”

“We have a part-Grimm and I’m okay with it,” Sebastian commented.

“Let’s all pretend you didn’t say that,” Skye muttered loudly before hugging Kendra.

Our newly-revealed Faunus chuckled softly before wiping tears from her face. “Thanks, guys. It really means a lot. However, we have another problem.”

We all kept quiet as Kendra repeated everything she heard from about 1/5 of a mile above the roof. “What should we do now?”

“We tell Goodwitch,” Sebastian replied. “On top of Cardin’s blackmail, Jaune snuck into Beacon! Neither of them belong here!”

“What about their teammates?” Dina retorted. “What about RWBY?! They find out, and we’ll ALL have twelve weapons going through our guts, literally! You heard Pyrrha’s reaction!”

“We also can’t stand by and let Cardin get away with this,” Skye reminded us.

“Why else did you think I didn’t take this into my hands?” Kendra looked at me. “What’s the plan, boss?”

I sighed. “We watch. We wait. We do what we can to ease Jaune’s burden and punish Cardin. But we DON’T tell anyone. The second we have a chance to turn the situation around, we take it. It’s not the best plan, but with our options limited, it’s all we got. Got it?”

Sebastian sighed while the others nodded. “This is going to end badly, isn’t it?”

“Not if we’re careful,” I replied before going to bed.

I really like the idea of Skye using Taijitu's like whips. That's a really cool idea I might have to steal at some point...
