Description
I made this cake for a charity event, it was auctioned off and the donations were given to youths wishing to further their education about the great outdoors.It was fun to make this cake, because I got to choose the materials and design.
I made the shells out of fondant (hand sculpted), everything is edible. The rocks were made from chocolate and coated with a candy coating.
This was a three layered cake. I forgot to snap a photo of the inside; but it was tri-colored as well.
The bottom layer was tan, the middle layer white, and the top layer light blue.
I made two layers vanilla/butter flavored and one layer almond nut flavored (the white layer in the center).

My, oh my! Sand looks so realistic with those shells and stones, truly great job! Of course I understand how much work it had to take and that this result is unbelievably amazing but something is lacking for me with water.. I don't know, maybe some cream at point when water meets the sand would work well for wave foam? I don't want you to feel bad because of my comment, I just wanted to give some idea for future I guess.. ok, I'm trying to be a wise ass again, sorry ^^'

yea, i was going to add the cream, but i just didn't want to -- i kind of liked the blue water look
lol, yea it didn't take me very long to decorate this cake. I threw it together in around 2 hours, maybe. The most time consuming parts were the shells i had to make and let dry, and baking/cooling of the cakes.

My secret preference is a beach with waves -- but no foam lol I dislike the foam, i think it's sick lol

Ah, I think the reason water looks that way is that in real steady sea water close to sand is pretty transparent and goes slowly to that bluish color. On the other hand it would turn this cake into a not so tasty beach look only, so I guess the way it is gives a bit of that fairy/children look is perfect for the cake
I like any type of sea, I always wanted to see it in winter with snow on

It looks wonderful! When I first saw it in thumbnail version, I thought "well, sand isn't going to look delicious.." Then I saw what you made the sand out of and I was proven wrong!!!
