Description
I own an old autograph of Brent’s with him as Data playing Holmes, so I thought that’ll make a brilliant first attempt foraying into digital painting in place of paints, pencils and conventional brushes. I took a lot of time with his hair and dressing gown, and was entirely done in Corel Painter 11 and PhotoStudio.

The arabesque red dot btw, is cloned from a scan of an antique book cover of mine. Just thought he needed to look at something while puffing on his pipe, like an illuminated piece of his fancy new wallpaper, pondering a new case. Elementary, Dear Data. I love the striking chiaroscuro Rembrandt type style and this just lent itself as perfect subject matter. The golden glow.

Star Trek The Next Generation is property of Gene Roddenberry/Paramount. Commander Data in image & name is essentially copyrighted, but not the name/word 'Data' on its own. However, since this is not taken from any online sources but my own, legally bought photo signed by Spiner I referenced to paint, there's no copyright on this work other than my own as creator, NOR the Sherlock Holmes name anymore since the Arthur Conan Doyle Estate have no rights on the fictional character in any form anymore as of 2014.
