Over the years I received a couple of offers from magazines and websites who wanted to hire me as a photographer. At first I was always very interested but I ended up turning them all down because they wanted to interfere with the way I work. They wanted to approve the models beforehand, they wanted more “open leg” photos and they wanted large quantities of photos. Very, very large quantities. Basically they were asking for over 100 usable photos in the time I usually need to make one photo.
I know a few fine photographers who work like this and I respect what they are doing. I do something similar with my “day jobs”: I try to keep up with the demands of the present job market (which can be pretty harsh sometimes). But with my photography I want to be able to do something different. I want the freedom to work all day for a single photo – and if no one’s going to pay for it, I’m paying myself. I always pay the models for their work but I never pay myself.

I started www.FairTradeNudes.com to offer downloadable photos in higher resolution for people who value erotic photography – and of course to make a little money back so I can do more shootings.
