Another edit of a previous deviation. [link]Details:
Face/body Painting took about 1 hour and 25 minutes give or take a few.

When I look at this, I think of a small god-powered child, someone locked away behind a mask because his power went out of control and injured someone. And perhaps it even felt good at the time. But now, all alone, he's looking on to the people who are supposed to love him, the people who can't control him, the people who are giving him a long look of disdain and wariness as they stand in the doorway, about to shut him in a black room, alone, until someone can figure out what to do with him.
He may not be the same when he comes out, if they leave him there too long. But what he will remember is the shape of the light as the door closes, the(ir) figure(s) in the way of the light, casting a shadow on him.
That's looking at the left eye, at least. Looking at the right-hand eye, he seems very intelligent. Perhaps even plotting. He knows he's smarter than they are, sees through the fear for what it is---but not necessary -why- it is.
So, that's why I'm +fav, anyway. Beautiful stuff. This one's especially inspiring.
I've lurked around here for a while but I've always wondered, do you take these photos yourself somehow? Or do you have help?

I had a feeling you did them yourself. How long of a timer must you have in order to get that all set up? And again and again? My goodness, your shoots must be hours long. @_@

I set the timer to take 3 shots every 10 seconds. For the close up shots that's hand held. Set up prior to the shoot takes the longest, although mostly it's just putting up a backdrop and then applying the make up. A shoot itself can take roughly around 1 hour to an hour and a half. Not really that long.

I really like the way the mask fades - initially it looks like it might not be paint but the fading at the bottom shows the truth, and to me it gives a sense of the non-permanent, a pseudo-restraint that is self-made.
