just listened to this ΓΌber-album a day ago. i went nearly insane because i couldn't figure out the original cover's meaning.and so i decided to make my own version of it. the depicted shoes are all of my very own collection. it was shot in the empty room of my ex-flatmate, in which i will soon move in.
all hail to Robert Smith.

I like the colors and lightning but it lacks a bit on the composition. If you look at the left hand side of the picture there is less space than on the right side (looking from chair to the end of the picture).
Also it is a bit to pinky for my taste. White isn't as white as it could be, but that's just my taste. It's great otherwise!

There's a videoclip of Coldplay, I don't remember how it's called... But the people in the clip are also "imaginary", they simply fade away while walking down the street...
I like simple concepts like that. Take a chair. Take a pair of shoes. And let your fantasie work..

oh you mean 'god put a smile upon your face'? mmh, with the wisdom of hindsight, that's really a cool connotation! i never even thought of this, but i understand why it seems like it could be heavily inspired by that video.
and yes, simple concepts. they don't always turn out well, but if they do nonetheless, i really enjoy them, too.

Speaking of the lighting...I really like it. It adds a different depth that wouldn't be there otherwise. and it sort of brings out the personalities of the chairs, in a cool way. The white solid in the corner shadows, the functional black in the spotlight, and the fuzzy just gets the glow. Nice job.

If I had to critique at all, I'd say that the light behind the middle chair is a bit distracting. Other than that, I really like it.

I like the concept, and that the three chairs are different, and the three pairs of shoes are black and yet different. I'd like to see the chairs angled a little bit more towards each other, though, so that it looks like the three imaginary boys are interacting with/talking with each other. But it's a great idea, and I like the colors.

this is cool, really nice concept...I've been thinkin about something with empty chairs myself
...though it looks a bit confusing, maybe and all straight wall in the back would sort that out??

i know what you mean. i even thought of re-shooting it, but then i noticed that this version is better. for me, the edge of the wall adds something unnatural to the picture, which, however, is nothing discomforting in my view. it's rather to be seen as the photo's "animator"...
furthermore, without the edge, the lamp would not "disappear" so easily

You know, this is an interesting deviation.
The setup is thought provoking,
but I can't seem to come to a solid conclusion.
One of the things I invision when I see this is
a sports guy in the first chair,
a hippy in the second chair
and a scene kid in the 3rd.
This is probably not your invisionment,
but it's interesting and debateable.
Also, hugs to you for the Robert Smith refference.

this time it is meant only to appeal visually to the eye, only the mere figuration of an aready existing concept. namely the three imaginary boys.
