Ooh, thanks!

I've seen some of my other Magic stuff floating out on the Tumblrverse, and it always made me squee with delight to see that I'm now internet-famous.

You should put this on a T-Shirt.
Would buy. Mirrodin is amazing, it's a shame they lost. :/

It rubbed me the wrong to see the Phyrexians return, and it pissed me off to see the Mirrans lose that conflict.

That's why I actually (and for real) haven't bought a single pack of New Phyrexia, and got rid of all the Phyrexian cards I ever got from the Scars set.

Mirrodin is not dead. Karn will return and banish the oil and purify his world. Also there are people in Mirrodin still resisting the Phyrexians. Pure Mirrodin will happen someday.

I think that the Mirrans still might win due to the pocket of resistance in the Furnaces. We also have Karn free in planeswalker form as well.
It might work unless Phyrexians activate the soultraps backwards, then there is a real problem due to the infection spreading all over the multiverse.

They need to make a 'Screw continuity, everyone vs. everyone' set.

Ravnica? Even if someone apperantly had the lead there after what I've heard. But now I do not know.

Good guys win on Innistrad. Avacyn returns and saves everyone.

And ended the werewolves curse while she was at it and made them become the wolfir instead.Β

Magic's storyline has always gone out of the way to make it clear that the bad guys have the advantage.

Yawgmoth's defeat was a Pyrrhic victory for all of Dominaria. It took a LITERAL deus ex machina (the Legacy Weapon) to stop him. Did you really think the New Phyrexians had any chance of losing?

This comment pretty much sums it up.

Granted, Infect was a really bad mechanic, but I still love the design for all the Phyrexian stuff. I mean, how could you say no to Elesh Norn?

I especially like how New Phyrexia was all about trolling your opponent.

Think about how many cards have additional life loss effects. Now think about the Praetor cycle, and how they all take something away from your opponents and give it to you.

It's glorious. Phyrexia doesn't just play to win, they play to rub it in your face when they do.

I think they actually said that they wanted to design the whole set around griefing and trolling.

I really hated the overall high power level of the set. I think that bending the game that far to give the impression of griefing and trolling is a folly.

That, and infect WAS a really bad mechanic. I wish people knew how much it messed up the Pauper metagame. They didn't even make powerful commons with infect and it wreaked havoc!

Erm...But you know, there were some cards I really liked from that set. Spire Serpent is one of my favorites. That, and the Mirrans are still fighting the Phyrexians. Remember that Karn and Melira are still fighting on the surface and taking refuge in the furnace layer.
