Description I have nice photos from a trip to Iceland from a year or two ago and so I painted three watercolour illustrations based on them, this is the first one I kind of like how they turned out, but I was disappointed with the paper (it dulled the colours, I was using it for the first time) and how the scanning messed up the sky. I scanned them on my scanner, it was bad, then I went to scan them professionally and it still wasn't great. Better, but still not very good. I tried to correct it digitally, but I failed. I guess it could have been worse, but I have to be careful about light blues in my works and try to scan something potentially problematic somewhere else (though I see this might be a general problem).
I will post the other two paintings in the next two days.

Watercolours, 20x22cm

Love that golden yellow against the pale blues and the dark earth. What a wonderful trip that must have been. The colour use is very striking

(Sorry to hear this was ruined by scanning issues. I must say it's not noticeable as being different at all from your other works without having seen the piece IRL. When you say you had them scanned professionally did you mean at a print shop of sorts? I hadn't even considered that as a possibility before. Is it an expensive service?)

It was a great trip, the landscapes were gorgeous ^^
About the scanning - since posting this work I heard at least two people on the internet complaining about scanning light blues so apparently it's not only my problem. Professionally - yes, at a print shop, they have better quality scanners (and they can scan bigger works, some up to 100cm wide) than I have at home. I have to check at a different shop next time. It's not expensive, in my area it's about 1zł (about 0,25 (euro)cents?) for an A3 format, slightly more for the bigger ones

That's cheap! Might be worth looking into my local shops and see what the difference is. I do always struggle getting a good picture of some of my works. Great to hear you had such an awesome trip too

Thanks! I should have probably mentioned that the photos didn't contain ravens, ha, ha

Does Iceland have ravens? I know they have puffins (my friend ate one.)

I honestly have no idea. They suited my idea for these works, though I've heard about puffins, but I didn't get to see one, I think I was in the wrong area for that. It was a really short trip, unfortunately, I would like to see more

I like this! It gives a very eerie feeling to it

That's great! I wanted it to be slightly mysterious, I like "eerie" as an adjective here
