Description

Play the finished game here!

Mockup made with the current finished graphics of Tiny Dangerous Dungeons, my entry for Game Boy Jam. More info of the jam: www.gbjam.net/

It's a Game Boy spin off of my first game Dangerous Dungeons I made years ago: www.stencyl.com/game/play/4102 using just 4 different colors.

However there are going to be some huge differences: Gameplay is not based on moving to level to level, instead you have one big level you explore freely and you can go back and forth between rooms. Timmy also regains his originally planned ability to throw knifes that I had to cut from original DD. You need to explore the temple, find hidden power ups, solve puzzles. Maybe there is even a treasure at the end?

highly inspired by Wario Land games on original Game Boy.

The colour tones you selected really do represent a great mock up of the old 90s gameboy. I really like it, really brings me back to those days when I used to play games none stop as a kid. The detail in this is really wicked! Good job i can't wait to see more.

I love this so much. I enjoy a more minimalist approach to spritework - so aiming at old-gen handhelds really appeals to me.  I would like to try something similar.
What's your secret for matching the Gameboy palette so perfectly? If you don't mind sharing.

These are not actual Gameboy greens but something similar I choose because I found it more appealing.

Rest is just drawing everything with only 4 colors.

Thanks! This is my first time making game with such a limited color pool. It's pretty fun actually, forces you to get creative.

I was wanting to make a game using the GB color palette as well but just haven't found the right idea yet. This is really looking awesome though. This is something that I definitely would have bought for my Gameboy back in the day.
