I like the Parliament of Trees retcon, as it fills a lot of old character plot holes rather ingeniously. Ivy’s Old motivation could be summed up as “She’s just a crazy plant mutant”, and there you go. So many writers were not even TRYING during the old Comics Code days, 🤮.
Thing is, it took them all that time since the code was abolished to expand upon her? Of course, after Moore introduced Swamp Thing, exploring potential connections between him, her, Solomon Grundy, and any number of planet people, such as dryads, the possibilities have been tinkered with, but it’s only since Blackest Night (introduced by Moore, too, turning into the LONGEST single plot development thread in the history of comics, 1981-2011), have they gotten it right.
So now the tragedy of Ivy is in sharp focus: born to be a Champion of The Green, a Hero even, The Arcane got to her before she could reach her potential, although I’m confused on the details as to what exactly it did to Drive her crazy. I missed that part and only know the summary.

Aw they look so cute and beautiful. I love your drawing style, they look cute and their bodies are nice and semi-realistic and not overly sexualized. I also really like the poses and Harley's dress is cool. Their eyes are beautiful too.
