Description There's a myth that the Bahaankarish Mountains weren't named after the mountains themselves, but an antiquated city called Bahaankari rotting within its frigid bowels, whittled down to skeletal ruins superimposed by the permafrost; a city that specialised in the use of arcane magic and runes. Much of the tale is left to conjecture, pieced together by fragmented artifacts found strewn in the snow along its less than benign perimeters. Some also say that the frosty mountain range itself isn't natural, and the city's disappearance coincided with the arrival of the beast that calls this god-forsaken land its home; a monster who has terrorised towns and cities on more than one occasion. Notwithstanding the veracity of the tale, no Bahaankarish citizens are alive to prove it; only tales passed down through generations that tell of the earth trembling and a cold wind erupting as mountains and snow manifested violently on the outskirts of the neighbouring forest. Perhaps a trek into the perilous mountains would shed light on the tale... but that would entail going toe-to-toe with the savage, biting winds strong enough to sweep a human off their feet... and then the resident Amphithere itself.

I may go back and revisit this concept to try and redraw it as I envisioned it. I'm realising in hindsight that a vertical format gimped me with a vengeance, providing very little leeway to get creative with the landscape.

Oh well, I figured I'd post it here instead of leaving it unfinished. Given the obvious flaws I'm not terribly pleased with this one but my gallery's getting dusty again.

Look at Quillo CHILLING up there. Icy he is having a good time against the clouds. The landscapes look quite ice as well, very hauntingly beautiful. The background in particular is stunning visually. Quillo's outline mixed against it is just...yes. Good.

Very good

Altho I do wonder about the valley of spikes down there. Are those natural or was it made for A E S T H E T I C?

As I said on Discord, Quilo created those.

And thank you. As aforementioned in the description, I had limitations that were setting me back, but I'm glad the chilling/frigid/hauntingly beautiful effect was still preserved and conveyed despite this. If I do paint more landscapes pertaining to Quilo's territory, I hope to capture that intensity in them too.

Amazing art work! The colors give such a frigid look to the ruins that some of them are made of ice itself.

Thank you. I was hoping the picture would have that frigid feeling about it, and I'm glad it did.

Does look a little bit cold there Just a little though. Otherwise not too bad. c:
I do like how the vertical format puts everything in perspective, but I see what you mean about restricting the landscape. I really like Quilo's looming presence though, and the feel of the landscape you did manage in the vertical format~

Also late comment bc I am distraction

Oh hush your late comments are still lovely. <3

Danke. :3 Ye, I mean the temperatures don't LOOK that cold. But actually being there, things tend to freeze very fast. :Y If not by the blizzard, than more likely than not because Quilo wants more ice sculptures in his gallery.

There may be a brand of hot cocoa for this conundrum though.

Maybe there's no cold, it's all a lie made by Quilo with sugar and blue food dye. D:
Maybe his ice sculptures are actually jelly
What if everything is a lie

Quilo Cocoa
It's all an elaborate marketing campaign to sell hot chocolate
