Description What is a 'Sexton Blake'? Sexton Blake was a radio serial dectective/adventurer from the first half of the twentieth century. the name was picked up on by those born within the sound of Bow Bells (the East End of London) and used as cockney rhyming slang for 'fake'. The famous amateur painter and self confessed 'sexton blaker', Tom Keating frankly admitted that he 'allowed' dealers and gallery curators who should have known better to believe that his reverse engineered impressions of artists such as Constable [link] , Rembrandt, Turner, Manet, Monet, and Samuel Palmer were the real thing, even when they'd been painted in acrylics instead of oils.

This landscape is doubly fake. It isn't a landscape, and it isn't even a painting.
