Oh my, I feel like I didn't post anything for ages!I had a very busy month, but I was secretly making a drawing experiment at the same time. It all started with a commision I've received from my dear friend Alina. The idea was to show the less fierce side of Fili and make a portrait of him blushing. I loved it, but then another idea came to me, to show the whole blushing process! So evening by evening I was creating some sketches (15 in total) to put them together later and create this work.
Don't be very cruel, because it's my first gif I've ever made (and considering how long it took, the last one) and I still see its flows. Next time I should make one with a potato maybe, it doesn't move that much... Well, enjoy

I'm still amazed. I've been looking at this for days and I find something new every time--- the slight movement of his mustache braid, the little shy smile, the way his eyes move downward. Holy cow that must have taken foorrreeeevvveeerrrr to do. Then the shading, contrast and lighting..... I give you props for completing this. I would have given up. 15 sketches in total? Oh yeah. I would have waved a white flag and surrendered. I don't know if it was out of patience or plain stubbornness, or maybe it was both, but either way I'm so glad you were able to finish this work of art!Β
And the end result is absolutely beautiful. You completely capture him.

This looks so lifelike. It's like a sepia toned bit of footage of Dean O'Gorman smiling as Fili. This is scary good. It is now my desktop background. It's art like this that makes me want to keep at it.Β

This is one of my favorite works of art ever...in any medium. Β His expression is perfection, the look up and tiny smile that reaches his eyes. His whole face animates so sweetly. Β His mustache braids sway just right, enhancing the movement of his head and drawing attention to the smile. I love the way his cheek muscles tense slightly showing his beautiful dimples. His hair and the fur on his collar are mesmerizing. Its as if an errant breeze is circling to lift and ruffle and tease. Β I'm sure you do see flaws, that's what keeps you growing as an artist. All I see is the beauty and sweetness of this piece.

Holy cow, I'm glad I found this because it's freaking amazing!!! Getting someone's likeness in one drawing is a challenge, getting it in 15 is just magic!! I love the way it's working, the slight catches between the sketches makes it art and not just another gif. That smile is perfect. So sweet. You really captured the real Fili, who had a long time to laugh before we meet him in the Hobbit. You do such beautiful work that I've been a fan for some time. But this truly is glorious. I downloaded it and put a shortcut to it on my desktop so I can pull it up when I need to see him smile. Thank you for your skill, talent and generosity in sharing with us!
