Description Trinity 77 [link] commented that Fix Me looked like an underwater explosion, so that got me thinking. What does an underwater explosion look like to dolpins and whales, who use sonar as a source of navigation?

Apophysis, spherical rotation piece.

Thanks. One of my more weird rotationals.

Amazing, there are so many little bits and pieces to this picture! 0_o
Fractal pics always amaze me...I have no idea how much work really goes into them, but it the end effect always makes it look like they took hours. 0_o

Thank you. This one started out as a simple three point rotational piece, but I managed to work some interesting depth into it. I made this one with Apophysis [link] , a free fractal program. Sometimes they can take many hours to get a really good one, but you occasionally get some that work out in only a couple of hours (with experience). If you're interested in learning, just drop me a note.

Nicely done. First thing that popped into my head was Relic Entertainment, and then, Homeworld.

Interesting thoughts you have there. Wonder if on some other spectrums an explosion would look like this as well? Odd to think of detonations as art, but I can see it here.

Wow, thanks. I remember the good old days playing dungeons and dragons, where certain types of being could see in the infrared and ultraviolet spectrum. It would be interesting to see sound waves. Probably be real cluttered. It's amazing that certain animals can filter out all the waves and be able to use them to communicate.

YIKES is THAT sweet or what .. man ...i didn't even know there was spherical rotation thingee...

if APo would have revealed this to me......i'da been runnin around showin' off my hard -on for days ...

Well i don't want to be too hasty ...but i think this might be your sweetest apo joy to date..... regardless ......i'l be back to fav this ......as i have a waiting list ...cause i like to keep 'em up on my page a while )

( gotta 1152 x 864 size ?...this would look great on my desktop )

Great minds think alike i see again ...plus..... it's appearent that rushing thru favs is a ploy for massive attention to your own page. i am disdainful of that. i'd rather go the hard route. (or the easy route like when friends put you up for a DD )

sure if you don't wanna shrink it i can...or email it to me is fine AOL mail can handle anything up to 15 MB i think it is ...

AND ARIST OF tHE MONTH ......KOOLNESS MAXED .......i hope you get it Jeff.

thanks

I thought I was the only one that liked to keep certain images on their page. Some images will never get the credit they deserve, so I like to do that to give them some help.

Thanks for the feedback, but all I meant was a rotation using the spherical variation. Don't feel too bad, someone noted me and asked for the script. Felt bad telling him is wasn't a scripted image. I've only done two scripts, and both of those are in the apophysis group's gallery (one patiently waiting on the judging for artist of the month).

I rendered this at 4000x3000. You sure you want that size? Let me know and I'll load it into scraps and note you.

Looks like a kaleidoscope or something.. I should try something like that myself, too.. the shades of violet look very delicious! And the black background is always effective!

Thanks. I adjusted the color weighting a lot on this one, after running through dozens of gradients. This is a 3 point rotation, one of my favorite rotation settings.

A truly stunning piece of work, my friend! The title fits it so well and the description is too ture. I suppose it would be the same sense that the comic book Draedevil "sees" things around him. Sonar sight my physics described it to the class.

Aeires In reply to Formor [2004-09-05 01:49:07 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Adam. I'll have to tinker around and see if I can't make a radar one instead of sonar. Good point about Daredevil. I was thinking of bats, but that's the same principle.
