Thank you, that just made my day.

This would have to be one of my favourite of all your images, Jeffrey. I work in an organic chemistry lab, but this looks much more interesting than that.

Thank you. I'm not 100% happy with this, so if I get some time, I'm going to revisit it and see if I can't get a cleaner image. I am happy with the shape though. Looks like the models we made in chemistry class.

I dunno Jeff in alot of ways you and i agree that grain in a image is bad but on this one it doesnt really "look" that way , it gives it a feel of it being as you called it , a molecule in a vast energy.

Aeires In reply to Darkangel764 [2004-10-12 22:25:43 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. When I was playing around with this, it did have bubbles at one point. I almost stopped at that point and try to get as many as possible. That sounds like a fun rainy day project, and it's supposed to rain later this week.

Dusky-Hawk [2004-10-12 17:12:23 +0000 UTC]

Wow, that is really cool! This fractal really does look like molecules floating around in space. Loving the structure in this piece, as well as the subtle color you used. This looks like something I would see on a geology class lecture slide.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Aeires In reply to Dusky-Hawk [2004-10-12 22:32:03 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. The last week we spent in chemistry dealt with organic chemistry. We had to make models of different compounds using balls and connecting rods. I thought of that when I was making this. I was trying to think of a humorous description about a new element dealing with fractals, when it occured to me that fractals are naturally occuring in the universe around us, so I couldn't help point that out.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Dusky-Hawk In reply to Aeires [2004-10-13 02:06:06 +0000 UTC]

Amen. I don't see leaves, I see fractals. I don't see clouds... I see renders.

Yet another awesome fractal you have made. You are exceedingly good at this, the cloud effect of the molecules and coloring of this are great as well. another +fav of yours.

Formor [2004-10-12 15:01:45 +0000 UTC]

Jeff, you really captured the essence of chemistry here! I can almost see the energy surges flowing from each molecule! Stunning Let's see, I can't tell how many protons ... but three electrons? Am I right? Li? Lithium, which is also a great Nirvana song in my opinion. Of course, Lithium is an element

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Aeires In reply to Formor [2004-10-12 22:41:05 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Adam. Not entirely what I was expecting, but I think I can live with this one. I tried to delete the swirly lines surrounding each orb, but couldn't get it. The more I looked at it, the more they reminded me of the electron orbits, so I guess I was defeating the purpose of deleting them. Lithium? I'm not sure. I wasn't going for a specific element or compound. At one point, I was even going to joke around by making one up and naming it some fractal name, but it occured to me that fractals are in nature all around us, so I ran with that instead.

Anyway, I told you I had a chemistry one. I might revisit this project on another day to see if I can do anything else with it. My next one I'll post in a couple of days. I think I have my best Ultra Fractal image yet, but I don't want to post it too close to this one.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Formor In reply to Aeires [2004-10-13 01:24:29 +0000 UTC]

Sounds like a great idea, Jeff I think that this piece looks great the way it is ... and you're right, it does look like electron paths around the larger nucleus. I think a general way to interpret it is the best way, I tend to sometimes get to detailed when I'm looking at something, that's why I was thinking lithium, because of the three electrons on the outside. I would definitely keep this one the way it is, though

both of your submissions today are great! i especially like the molecular! it is thought provoking as well as beautiful

Aeires In reply to Deborah-Valentine [2004-10-12 22:44:55 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. A bit tricky, but fun to make because of the interesting shape. Splintered Conception was actually an older submission. I was kicking around submitting it for print and someone told me it would look great over a fireplace, so I finally broke down and rendered it larger. Glad you liked both of them.

GossamerWings [2004-10-12 13:45:01 +0000 UTC]

Like they're floating in water and the ripples move from them. I suppose, chemistry wise, that's true in the essence of molecules? -not a genius- I like it a lot. The colors are great with this piece. It's very eyecatching.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Aeires In reply to GossamerWings [2004-10-12 22:46:35 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Gossamer. I tried a lot of different colors with this one, but you know me, blue rules. Still planning on revisiting this one again. I might try some real bright colors to see what happens. Maybe get a radioactive look.
