Description Ultra Fractal. Photoshop for frame and font only.

This was actually the first Shattered image, but I didn't like the quality. One of the hundreds of great things about Ultra Fractal is that it can do renders back to back. The wallpaper was already rendering, so I loaded this in the que and it took off after the wall was finished. Unfortunately it wasn't finished until 20 hours or so later.

Rendered at 8000x12000 at 2500 for print quality.

Some like it, some not. To me it is my favourite of your Ultra Fractals! It almost looks 3-dimensional and the render is brilliant!

I think people weren't expecting it, which is kinda strange because I never do the same thing all that much. I'm the great experimentor.

Thank you. Of course, if you get one of the top three spots in the December contest, you can have your own version.

I know but I also know that I don't know how to make such a nice sphere like yours on UF ID

Aeires In reply to areshi [2004-11-25 18:51:31 +0000 UTC]

Click on the Mapping tab and select Glass Hemisphere to make a glass orb, and 3D Mapping to place the image on the outside of an orb. There are some steps in the tutorial that explain all the tricks to it. It's a harder contest, which is why I got the information out to the group as soon as I could. I wanted to give the group as much time as possible to work on this one. Don't forget, there's still a couple days left for the ID contest.

This is great hon , has a truly dark blue mirror look to it .......and really neat how you got a explosion like effect going through it.

Thanks. This one surprised me on how some sections showed the lower layers and other sections covered them up. I like how it came out, and you know me, always breaking things.

Love those cool blue tones. They work really well with your 'shattered' look. Like a beautiful mirror which has been broken from the cold in an ice world. I'm getting cold shivers just thinking about it!

Beautiful fractal!

Better grab a warm blanket. I love to work with blue, although I started with a bit more purple, but the shattered look really popped with the blue instead.

Thanks, Lenora. I had the framing completely laid out before I even hit the render button. Glad you noticed that because it often goes ignored.

Nice image matey...very 3d Max in design...who needs MAX when you can results like this....... at the original print render...thats is huge...

Aeires In reply to Serpinsky [2004-10-28 04:21:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, take that abstract art, UF is comin' to town! I went for a huge render because some of the lines were jagged. Even with the highest aliasing, that drives me nuts. I can't help but zoom right in on it, so I bit the bullet and did the extra huge.

I really dig the broken glass effect, Jeff! The blue border I think adds much more depth to the image itself. Personally, I like the feel of this one ... breaking stuff, shards of broken glass flying through the air, splinters of microscopic torture

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeires In reply to Formor [2004-10-26 03:05:12 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Adam. I had envisioned this from the start, but just out of curiosity I resized it for a wallpaper and thought it looked good enough for that. If the original render would have been of good enough quality, I would have done the postings in the proper order.

Hey, looking at this doesn't motivate you to get your hammer out, does it?

Awesome piece!!

Aeires In reply to Fuelman [2004-10-26 03:09:00 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. If there was a way of making this partly reflective, I would have surely tried it because that sounds like such a cool idea. Ultra Fractal is a killer program. Me, Enronian, and Serpinsky started an UF group to try and help people with the program. We have some tutorials posted and will be making some more soon. [link]
