Great work here! Ursula in the story was just known as the sea witch from what I remember. The tragic turn in the story was that the man who she saved confused another woman as if she had saved him and fell in love with him. When confronted with this horrible outcome, the sea witch gave her a loop hole for safety to save her own life. The contract wasn't for her voice but for the life and Ariel had the choice to either kill the man which would force the contract to become null or her own life would expire. She chose to save him again and dove in the water when the time was up then turned into sea foam. I also prefer the Disney adaptation, imagine the theater's response with THAT ending!

Your model is great!
I think, I know whats wrong with your model. Her body is shaped like a pear, your model on the other hand looks more like an hour glass. Just lessen the hour glass shape shape and more like a pear.
You did great on the head. Her head is also the same shape as her body, try basing it on that.
let me also suggest widening her lower back torso slightly.
your model is very almost perfect. just a little more tweaking. good luck.

Hey she is my favorite Disney villain. Oh I viewed more concept art of her, And I am wrong.
I think she's more of an apple body shape.
I'm sorry for that bad advice.

Good call on including the contract and pen. I remember thinking that her weird fishbone pen was really cool as a kid. Is the look of the contract movie accurate? (I can't remember what it looks like.) Either way, amazing attention to detail on the props!
I'm glad that the open-mouth model ended up working out. It just wouldn't Ursula without that creepy, manipulative smile.
And as always, your gold color and metal texture (on her seashell necklace) looks great. Did the champagne-ish color thing we talked about work for this one too?
Another awesome villain.

Thanks. After it was finished, I realized I also did a bad pixelart Ursula in PrintMagic in the '90s and I made her pretty much like this, contract and all! Now I really have to find that old stuff and do a "draw this again" The original contract is similar, actually it changes in the movie. In some shots you can see it as it is here, with that fine print in the middle, and in another shot you see all of the text is the same size when the camera scrolls down through it, and if you watch it frame by frame you'll realize the middle section is all gibberish and even has a Mickey Mouse head somewhere Also, in the movie the bottom part of the scroll rolls in the opposite direction, and the whole thing has a magical glow to it. I considered trying that, but it was messing with the 'realistic' lighting, then I considered adding the glow in post, but I didn't like the result so I left it that way. I'm glad I opened her mouth too. The early sculpt looks like her mouth had been forced shut, it's like she was begging me to let her open it
I like how the necklace turned out, specially considering how difficult it was to make. I always knew I'd have to do it in traditional modelling but nothing I tried was working. I now own a collection of failed 3D snailshells The earrings were easier to make and they were in place and remained unaltered even before she even looked like Ursula. And that's champagne-ish gold indeed. I can't have enough of it and I think I'm never going back to yellow/orange, except when I go back to doing POTO stuff since I already made that gold sort of orangy.
Thank you for checking this out, commenting and faving, and for indulging me and let me yap about all I did, how and why

Oh gosh this is fantastic. I love the translucent quality of her flesh, especially evident around her hand. I seriously thought this was a sculpture or toy!

Looks great!
I looked at some of the other models you sculpted and I like that they don't look 100% how they're supposed to, yours look very unique.
