That's an old anime about a husky (trained bear hunter) named Gin. I really liked everything there, it's outstanding! You should totally watch it (I watched it on youtube). Kinda reminded me of my collie Lassie (another tragedy way back when I was a kid). You know, self-sacrifice, love, friendship, all these awesome things in life...
