It's been a long time since I've done anything at all on dA, but I found this old AS level piece and decided I'd upload it.It's not often I do a colour piece, but when I made this one I was told by my teacher specifically to do something different. I wasn't exactly overjoyed but I gave it a go.
I like the piece, I suppose, but for me it lacks the finish I can manage with black and white pieces, and it just doesn't come close to what others can achieve with colour. I'm not sure why it is that I find colour such a pain to work with but I do, and I'm not sure that will ever change.
Anyway, please do let me know what you think, even if the piece is a couple of years old I think it's the last colour piece I did, so constructive criticism will most likely let me know where I'd go wrong were I to attempt a colour piece again.
Medium: acrylic on canvas board.
I don't know the dimensions of the piece...it's a decent size anyway.

This looks amazing just so you know, I don't normally give critiques because usually I have no idea what I'm talking about, so you don't have to take anything I say seriously

The first thing I notice is that there isn't enough lighting on them, it makes it seem less colorful. there should be 3 to 4 different levels of shading on realistic piece (in my opinion)
I've never ever used paints so maybe easier said then done? xD
The other pieces in your gallery are awesome too btw

Thanks very much for the info. As I said, and as you most likely saw in my gallery, I just don't tend to use colour, so yes it is a little easier said than done.
I shan't be developing the piece further, as I've got two on the go already, one being Hybrid which is going to be a real pain to complete.
