Not a problem. I'm new on here but I know all the work, research, and different sources of inspiration that may influence a piece of work. I wish others on here would remember that.

Aerie-Faerie = M. Night Shyamalan.
Esmeralda isn't white, and neither is Katara.

I know Esmeralda isn't white. And neither isΒ Roselyn Sanchez who I based this on. I seriously can't believe how many people are accusing me of being racist because of this. On all of my paintings I use a pale glow to highlight the cheekbones/noses etc which may have unintentionally made her skin lighter. For not being racist you guys like to talk about skin colours a lot.

She's not white. You changing her skin color from brown to white is hella racist. Good job. =\

Precisely. She isn't white. I also referencedΒ Roselyn Sanchez who also isn't white.
I'd say the racist is the person who has to point out skin colour, don't you?

Maybe go read an article on why acting like skin color doesn't mean anything is racist

I don't need to read an article to know I'm not racist but thank you.

Esmeralda doesn't look like this and even if you were going for a more realistic approach this still wouldn't be a very good representation of her.
What you have done here is called whitewashing, and it is racist to take a character of darker tones and make her this light because you subconsciously believe that lighter = more beautiful.
This is wrong.

I thought the Romani described in the book were more, ya know, brown.

Oh, my gosh! this is beautiful! You did an amazing job, especially in the eyes. It looks very realistic. And I agree with you, she should have ended up with Quasi. It kind of defeated the whole purpose of the movie, by having her end up with the ''handsome, non-deformed man''

I was thinking the same ^^
Referenced a pic of Roselyn Sanchez but it ended up looking nothing like her, which I'm quite happy about really xD

Wow, thank you so much!
I prefer it when people steer away from the disney "norms" if I'm honest. Its interesting to see peoples different interpretations of characters ^^
