I wish they kept Clifford. He's such a cool and laid back character. Especially since he was to join Kermit as the mascot of the franchise.ย

I'm amazed there are any fans of Digit, since it's easier to break into Fort Knox than find episodes of The Jim Henson Hour. He does tend to stick out like a sore thumb, since like a good portion of the cast of his segments, Digit was never meant to be a Muppet, he wa supposed to be part of a standalone show that became part of the amalgamation that was the Hour.

Honestly, what little memories I have of Digit as a child, he frightened me! XD
But as I grew older and revisited the shows and characters, I found to my delight that despite his bizarre, uncanny valley design, Digit's actually a real sweetheart, eager to please and to help.
It also helps that I have a soft spot for Dave Goelz's characters, he's amazing at creating loveable misfits that are a bit odd even for Muppet standards.

That seems to be a theme with the making of the Hour: "This situation sucks, but we gotta make the best of it."

He used to scare me so much when I was little, but now I appreciate his quirkiness and would love to see him be the techno/dj guy of the Muppets.

I love his quirkiness, personally. I didn't watch Jim Henson Hour until I was older, but I love it! Digit's just so... quirky and weird, and so technological. I've actually been working on a fanfic on my headcanon backstory on him. I can send you the link, if you want. =3

Cuuute! I especially love Dr. Strangepork in his sweater vest (he's one of my favs, too!) and Lydia the tattooed lady - I wish she'd had more time in the spotlight.

I'm a sucker for sweater vests and European accents. <3
He reminded me of Doc from Fraggle Rock, so I based some of his personality and wardrobe on him. (This was before I watched The Muppets, so imagine my delight when I saw the movie and there he was with a sweater vest and a snazzy polka dot bowtie. XD )
I loved Lydia, she was so adorable. Whoever performed her was absolutely brilliant, just that one sketch and she completely won me over. And yes, major bummer that she never became a star. Frankly, I'd rather have her than Piggy as leading lady pig.

Oh I hope he does too!
Have you seen the behind the scene vids for the OK Go! Muppet theme song music video? You get a quick yet wonderful line from Pops, and it's so uncannily like Jerry's Pops, it's spooky!
Yeah, I get that Piggy adds the "ham" to the show, so to speak.(dohohoho!)
I just wish that she had more "rivals", instead of just getting jealous over guest stars. Or that we had more of a female cast overall.
Which makes me sad that Ms. Mousey never really caught on either.
Even Janice would've been a nice foil for Piggy had she been used more.
I figure that Lydia's more playful and natural than Piggy's grandeur act, which to me was like a breath of fresh air.
But yeah, I would've loved to see all of Lydia's tattoos up close, all hand drawn by Jim himself!
And cover up those beautiful works of art? Never!

Totally agree on all fronts.
I *did* see that behind the scenes footage, and it was awesome to hear such a spot-on Pops (Matt Vogel is amazing, and that line was perfect, haha!). Then I got all excited because Link was right behind Pops, but he didn't say anything, alas. I shouldn't complain though, considering he got to star in an awesome musical number in the movie!
I also wish that there had been more female characters. The same old problem in entertainment, it seems.... "token female-itis". I was sad that Annie Sue never caught on (I liked her), and yeah, it would have been nice for more Miss Mousie and Lydia and Janice. They all would have really brought something great to the group if allowed to shine more.
I wonder if the Lydia puppet still exists somewhere. If it hasn't disintegrated away by now, it should really be on display somewhere so we can see all those historical Jim-drawn tattoos!

Gosh, speaking of Annie Sue, I forgot all about her!
You'd think she'd have been in the movie as well!
Oh I smiled so much during that number, hearing Rowlf and Link sing again was such a treat! Though how on earth did they ever convince Sam of all Muppets to sing along with them?
But alas, if there was one thing I was disappointed with the movie, it was that the Electric Mayhem didn't get their own number. It was the one thing I was most excited to see, ever since the Bohemian Rhapsody viral video, to have the EM rocking out finally with a full cast again. Yeah sure, they performed Pictures in My Head and the Rainbow Connection, but still... It's been years since they've had a proper place in the spotlight. Might as well reintroduce them to the new generation with the works.
If they ever bring on Skeeter as a real Muppet and make Janice as a more prominent character, I'd be happy with that setup.
Piggy as the drama queen, Skeeter as the plucky athlete, and Janice as the laidback artsy mediator between the two.
It'd be wonderful to have Piggy carry a conversation with other girls for a change that doesn't involve green eyed jealousy.

Yeah, I was disappointed with no EM original song, too. But, baby steps! So many other wonderful things happened (like you say, Rowlf and Link singing! In 2011!) that I am willing to overlook it and just hope, hope, hope that they will get the chance in the next Muppet production!
Piggy showed some good development with her not being a total slave to an indifferent Kermit in the movie... maybe she's ready to be developed enough that she'll be able to carry on a non-jealous conversation with other women. That would be nice!

Well, the new movie is going to have Kermit and Piggy focusing on their love whilst foiling Constantine, the world's greatest FROG thief (the world's greatest HUMAN thief for me will always be Carmen Sandiego).
