Experimentation, AND SUCCESS!! I tried coloring "backwards" like, instead of coloring darker with shadows, i started out with shadows and went lighter with highlights!I think it turned out great! I really adore it <3

The whole "super shiny white dot" highlighting style has quite intrigued me, and I think this is one of the best examples of it I've come across. Nice work! I like how the background color shows through in places.
