Description Hey everyone! So this is my submission for my new university's summer project we were given, and I decided to practice lighting, perspective and scenes featuring two new original characters. It was all inspired by my recent holiday, The Witcher, Dark Souls and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. I really enjoyed taking part!

To start of with I have to say this is an amazing piece, you command of lighting effects and the shadows is wonderful, it really sets the scene and allows the viewer to feel like they could almost fall in in to the picture.

The beauty in the design of what I am guessing is a cathedral is beautiful, the ideas used in the windows and the arches are fantastic as well as the texturing in the floor boards in addition to giving the mirrored "polish"over the top I will definitely need to learn how to do that.

The small areas that I would say might need to be worked on are your character body positioning and possibly line in your back grounds. Now don't get me wrong it's only because I am doing a critique that I looked in to every detail, I didn't see these things until much closer inspection.

The Character body position I refer to his right leg, and most predominantly his right foot. Unless he has sustained an injury is a little bit too long but also twist about 90 degrees to far to the right as it looks like the left hand side of his foot is facing behind him. Which if trying to recreate that pose myself would mean either his knee is dislocated or he is dragging his foot with a completely lame leg. I assume by the picture that the character is meant to be portrayed as running or at least walking and the simple fix for that would be to "turn" that foot so that the sole of his foot was facing the viewer.

The other point of the "Character Body" positioning is with the shadowy specter is that it's legs don't seem to be in line with their head. Now that one is just off hand, with an evil specter creature they don't necessarily need to be inline, it was just another thing I thought might be something to think about.

With the line work in the back grounds that I mentioned earlier, which I understand in doing backgrounds becomes extremely tedious, time consuming and frustrating, especially if doing free hand. But with all those precursors there are slight areas where the pillars don't match up to the archways, and the the windows are fairly askew, with the wall they are in and within their own frame work.

These are the only things that I could see that could possibly be improved on in such an amazing picture that already holds beautiful depth, effect and atmosphere.

Your painting looks really good. Only things i could suggest for your next painting would be to use a perspective grid or to start off with a quick 3D model in blender or something like this and to use the lasso tool to get some more sharp edges. Right now i feel like its still a bit too blurry but aside from that, good job on your lighting study!

There is a lot to like here! I love the details ad the staging. Really sets a dramatic scene, especially with the monochromatic shading

Thank you, I'm very happy you like it! Speaking of the monochromatic shading, I was initially going to colour this, but then I thought keeping it black and white appeared to enhance the dark mood of the picture. Though I do love a bit of partial colour in my pictures, like the red eyes.
