Hey guys! Here's some quick concept art I completed for my games design coursework. This is Olivia Winter, a new character I came up with. Her attire in this artwork is that of a WW1 American outdoor nurse uniform. She has light brown hair and her uniform is navy blue with brown gloves/boots, although I didn't colour her here.The style I was going for was quite gothic, similar to Tim Burton, Edward Gorey and John Kenn Mortensen. was also an inspiration.

PS: I may add more drawings to this piece in place of Olivia's name in the bottom right hand corner later on, but I'm not sure yet!

This piece of work is actually pretty simple since it is mostly concept art I won't worry too much about the backgrounds but rather the design itself. I like the simple nature of it and how you can get the basic of the character without any dialog.
In a way I wouldn't mind a bit more to tell use that she is a nurse outside of the cross on the bag. Still it does tell us everything we need to know, even the heels despite not being the most practical I like it simply due to the style. I can tell what era she is from instantly.

I drew in a style that I wasn't used to, so I'm glad it came across as a simple design, that's something I aimed for (seeing as I usually produce much more detailed pieces).
You're right, concept art is quick, so I tried not to take too much time on it due to the nature of my coursework. I do understand about her boots, I reckon I should have made them shorter - I definitely wouldn't want to run in those! Perhaps 'exaggeration' was the theme that came to mind at the time. Or she simply visits people's houses behind the front line. Maybe she's quite short? Perhaps it's all three.
I would like to perhaps add extra items in this work, I feel it's a little empty otherwise.
