Description Here it is.
60 + hours worth of work.
My biggest piece of art EVER.
Original dimensions are - 13316 x 5826 pixels
44 x 19 inches at 300 pixels per inch

I'll be uploading a higher resolution of this piece after the book is official for launch.

About Vicious Sun -
Set in a world populated by dragons, Vicious Sun follows three of the dragons called Skyborne and their journey. The story focuses on Akeme Kemi'Aer, the dragon on this cover art, known as the Daughter of the God of Lightning, Fendis End - Son of the Red Reaper, and Saaran Mi'haia - Child of the Endless Sands.

The novel is written and illustrated by me, and will include at least one black and white illustration per chapter, along with a possibility of one full-color illustration per sections (about 8-9).

I'll be starting a funding campaign through Kickstarter either in late September or early October. Pretty much, Kickstarter allows people to back projects in exchange for receiving various donation rewards. Rewards for Vicious Sun will include copies of the book, collectible cards for the three main characters, posters of the cover art, t-shirts, and a few more I'm going to keep secret for the time being

If you're interested and want to keep up with the updates about the Vicious Sun project, watch my DA Journal or my Facebook page - [link]

Wow, publishing your own book, that's ambitious. Are you doing it all yourself? Not through a publisher or anything? That's pretty awesome.

This looks really cool, by the way. It'll make an interesting cover. I wish we could actually see all those details you put into it. I can't fathom working at that high of a resolution! It's actually hard to fully appreciate it at this size. Ah well. XD

Thanks! Yeah, I'm doing all of the typesetting and layouts myself. It's a lot of work, but I prefer this method because I don't have to worry about having an editor assault my story and change it into something completely different, plus I stay in control of all copyrights. And I can illustrate it!

I'm keeping it at low resolution for the time being, but once I get through the Kickstarter and get all of the funding to make sure this can happen, I'll be putting up a much bigger resolution image without the watermark, right now I'm being careful just so I don't have to worry about copyright issues etc. Too many other things to worry about with this project, hehe.

And yes, I'm terrified to think that I have two more of these covers to do over the next few years. This resolution was murder!

How long have you been writing the story? How close is it to getting your hands on that first copy? You must be getting really excited for it at this point.

Ya, it'd be nice to take out the middleman like that. Gives you complete control... and complete responsibility, which is a lot of work, but it can be worth it, right?

I totally understand that. I hope I'll get to see a larger size eventually. Maybe not the full size, though, cause... dang. XD

I'm impressed you were able to do a drawing of this size in only 60 hours. Or maybe I'm just really, really slow.

I've been working on this particular one for around a year, I started outlining it last spring and wrote the rough draft for NaNoWriMo last November. The physical copy should be out by March 2013, if all goes well, and I am super excited! I've been writing for a long time, and it is going to be great to finally get a physical copy of my book!

The responsibilities kinda multiply when you take on everything yourself, but I didn't want to have to sign over the rights to my book. I would rather have control over their destinies, and this day in age you have to do pretty much all of the marketing yourself whether you're traditionally publishing or self-publishing. In my opinion, self-publishing is more worth it for me.

And you'll definitely get to see the larger size, I'll be uploading it on this image. There will eventually be a wallpaper set as well, not sure when I'm doing those yet. And yeah, the full size is... enormous. I'm excited to do the first printing color tests, though, that is going to be fun!

As far as the time goes, a lot of it was figuring out that background. That thing took forever! There was much smudge-tool abuse in this painting
