This is a very clever shot - great capture of a good pose. I love the straightforward composition, and the shot follows the rule of thirds quite well. As far as the composition goes, I would suggest a slight crop (centered - use a standard size like 8''x10''e.deviantart.com/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Wink)" />

My biggest problem with this shot lies in the technique. When I am critiquing a shot, the first thing I look at is f-stop, shutter speed, and ISO number. You used a very narrow aperture, and the shot is in broad daylight, so you obviously have plenty of light. There is no reason to use an ISO of 400 - that is way too fast for a daylight shot like this, and the animal obviously wasn't running or moving around. For this shot, you should have used an ISO of 100 or less (80 or even 64 would have been ideal). An ISO of 400 makes the background and the out-of-focus areas appear much grainier than they would with a lower ISO. Out of focus is one thing - it draws the eye to the main subject, which is good. Grainy, on the other hand, is distracting unless it is obviously intentional. This shot isn't terribly grainy, but you would probably be amazed at what a difference a lower speed would make. This one would look very grainy in comparison.

This is a very nice shot, though. I like it very much.

wow thank you very much for this critique. Besides the high rating I'm glad you put so many suggestions in it. The point why I used such a fast shutterspeed is easy. Especially those tigers moved and played a lot that day. That's (and cloudy weather too) why I tried to have such a shutter speed nearly most of the time. But you are right. For this shot it wasn't necessary. I will keep that in mind and will use a better ISO next time.

Oh, you're welcome - the shutter speed is fine. The ISO is really what I was talking about. My point was that since you were able to use such a high shutter speed, you should have had plenty of light for a lower ISO.

Hehe the title definitely fits. His blue eyes are gorgeous too. This is a great angle, I love how pretty much everything in the frame is out of focus except the tiger. Great job!
