but the way you drew it, so angular, hard, not all soft and blurred, it's really captured his true essence

This is very good. You have an interesting hatching technique.

It's kind of a circular motion technique. I find for drawing people and flesh it gives a more natural look than linear hatching.

Your shading is just perfect - I really love the different tones and depth that you capture. He has such a sensual expression on his face - you can almost hear him singing. Those eyes are just warm and comforting, too.
