Thank you - I love the effect of fog.

Frustration is a state of mind. I used to get a bit worked up, but have learned to kick back mentally, listen to the radio, and watch the passing show.
Eating rat poison yourself doesn't kill the rats!
Capetonians are also a lot more laid back in this kind of traffic than the Joburgers, who would have filled up the yellow lanes, and generally freaked out!

Not much else to do. Although I've seen minibus taxis do some funky things!

If you were driving around Rochester today you would be watching the blizzard instead of the fog. Hovering about 0oC with a stout wind.

If there were a blizzard, I don't think I would be driving! I have navigated Highveld (Johannesburg) thundershowers, where 4" of rain can fall in half an hour or so, and that at least doesn't freeze up!
"stout wind" - I like the term. What numbers do you put to "stout"? Round here, "fresh" is 30-40km/h. "Stout" seems up on that.

Ouch. That's "don't touch the metal' cold!
Never, ever experienced anything that cold. And it's not on my bucketlist!

You use the hardest wax available and rub into the base of the ski. No finesse required. It has high static friction and low kinetic friction so you can alternately kick off and glide.
