Thanks, it took age's to refine the shader to get a nice deep red.

Supercar perfection right there. Every line and reflection is simply perfect, and the deep shadows and sensual red shade give the whole piece a really classy, mysterious feel.

That is way nice. You did some awesome reflections off the rims. How did you do that?

By using a HDRI the gives sick chrome effects

Excellent work, and I'm surprised at how quickly it rendered. The lighting and reflections are beautiful, I probably would have guessed around an hour and a half, minimum.

Man that is superb

How long did it take you to model it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AfroAfroguy In reply to Bonyjoe [2008-12-24 00:48:25 +0000 UTC]

1 week on and off for the exterior, 1 week interior. The hardest part was texturing/uv layout in maya. Man that shits boring

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Bonyjoe In reply to AfroAfroguy [2008-12-24 01:37:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah im just trying to get into this now, modeling in maya is one of the modules on the courses I've applied for at uni.

I suppose you do this kind of thing for a living?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AfroAfroguy In reply to Bonyjoe [2008-12-24 13:25:00 +0000 UTC]

Nope.

I design cars for a living. CGI is a hobby

Dont worry it takes time to learn, but once you knowm the basics and the groundwork has been covered its get easier and more logical

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Bonyjoe In reply to AfroAfroguy [2008-12-25 00:01:50 +0000 UTC]

Pretty cool job you got there

Yeah thats what I was hoping, it's just trying to get the basics nailed as its so different to any other program I've used.

But then I always thought I would never learn photoshop but I geuss i did or I wouldn't be here

The rims are a BBS prototype. A carbon fiber/magnesium alloy split rim design.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AfroAfroguy In reply to darkshark9 [2008-12-23 13:07:26 +0000 UTC]

Thanks

Its just one HDRI, some clever materials and a relatively detailed model. Im still figuring out the renderer, its simple but very very effective.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

darkshark9 In reply to AfroAfroguy [2008-12-24 01:41:29 +0000 UTC]

How long did it take from start to finish on that model? I can only hope to create something like that someday. I've been looking up tutorials on photorealism in cg, particularly cars, seems both easier, and more difficult than I had first thought. Any good references or tutorials you'd recommend?

I learnt Maya by playing with it but the tuts on here are excellent. The best advice i can give is go to [link] and ask/look at lighting setups/material settings etc

The best thing though is to just play
