actually, the funny thing is, most of the people in the group already knew each other in one way or another. Axel started the group, and she met Marluxia and Xaldin in college, through them met Xemnas, Xigbar, and Lexaeus, and i've known her since 10th grade, and then we met Demyx and Zexion and recruited them.... i say it was far more luck than work XP
