Limited palettes! Who knew, right?

I already went and dropped my opinion all over tumblr, but for the sake of consistency I guess: My personal preference has been towards "Jane Watson" for a while, and I figure, since we have an actual Joan Watson now, there should be some way to distinguish them. I also really don’t like changing Sherlock’s name, since it’s unusual enough that I strongly believe it should fit as a unisex name perfectly fine. Seeing it changed in fic and such kind of throws me off.

Which are, naturally, just my opinions, and not at all something I think should be the be-all, end-all only correct way of going about things. :]

Hooray! Someone who agrees that Sherlock is a unisex name!

Haha, yes. It's actually a little unfortunate how strongly I feel about it though, I can't really enjoy fic where 'Sherlock' is changed at all unless it's exceptionally well-written.

I personally like 'Sheila' as a name change for Sherlock's femme persona. Sherly is too cutesy for me, and Sharron doesn't even sound remotely "science of deduction" enough to me.
P.S. If Mycroft and Sherlock had another sibling, I imagine that they would have a sister, and when all expectations in the family were for a young Holmes boy too. (Sherlock's exempt from the "family" generalization as he keeps out of personal affairs and lets almost no one know about his opinions on such things.) Their mother would have picked out the name Paul (After giving her first two sons such unusual names, she and Mycroft agreed it was time for something a little more normal sounding.), and as it was a girl, she was at a loss for a name. Mycroft wouldn't even look at his new sister, being disappointed beyond belief. Such harsh behavior is uncharacteristic for him I know, being the more humanly affectionate of the Holmes boys, but he would see the baby as a rebel from the womb and a piece of bad luck. The idea of "bad luck" would give Sherlock the perfect idea for a name as all the "normal idiots" were too busy fretting over what sex she was to come up with one; thus, she would be christened Pandora Holmes, "Pan" for short, the rebel of the Holmes family and an aspiring scientific journalist.
