Description Guess what I've been listening to?!?

Taking a quick break from my usual program, I decided to take a trip to the past (The Nostalgia Critic's Disney reviews did the trick there), and revisit one of my top 3 Disney films, the '67 hit "The Jungle Book." Even after all these years, I still love the music and the lovable characters this movie offers. It may not go for the truly "epic" feel like many Disney films do, but this one has more than enough heart to make this a classic on a different but equally entertaining level. If it's not obvious, this is a recommended movie!

In short, I decided to draw Mowgli, Bagheera and o'l Baloo in my more warped cartoony style. I really hope I did them justice, as this was a fun one to work on.

The Jungle Book belongs to Rudyard Kipling, Disney and its other respective owners. The artwork belongs to me.

Comments and suggestions welcome. Enjoy!

Aw, well always nice to see homage to the classics. Jungle Book no less, who can forget that song?

The more modern style does bring an interesting spin on things. Makes me wonder how the film would have been handled had they attempted to make it in the last 20 or so years. Well done here!

Wow! I love your interpretation of the characters. When I was a kid I had a movie poster in my room with Baloo and Mowgli. My Grandmother used to read me the Kipling's book before sleep

Aw, that's too cool! I loved Jungle Book as a kid too. This is one of the Disney movies that actually became more charming to me growing up thanks to all that swingin' music. Always appreciate great input like this, pal!

Disney movies, no matter how unwatched, still retain some charm. Evil corporation be damned! Thanks a lot, Andy.

I think The Jungle Book would be in my top 3 Disney films too. The Beatles-esque vultures and Louie Prima as King Louie seal the deal for me. I like how you drew ol' Baggy here. All nice and pissed off!

Indeed, I have no problem with saying that I still have "I Wanna Be Like You" in my music library. I really wanted to capture the freewheeling spirit of "The Bare Necessities" with this pic, and you know Baggy would have none of that (at least at this point in the story!)! Thanks a lot for the comment, Hay!

I loved this movie as a kid! 8D And for once I have to be honest but the Swedish dub voice for Baloo is better than the english one. XD

AgentC-24 In reply to LadyLoriel [2012-02-11 19:51:55 +0000 UTC]

Oooh, don't make me throw down the gloves, as the late great Phil Harris was always my fave voice of Baloo! Nonetheless, glad to find a fellow fan of this movie! Thanks for the comment!

LadyLoriel In reply to AgentC-24 [2012-02-11 20:13:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeah but we had Beppe Wolgers! All Swedish kids fav actor, writer and over all man (may he rest in peace). XD And it's probably just that I find Beppe's voice more suitable for Baloo's personality than Phil Harris is. But that is all about opinions in the end isn't it?

Shouldn't be a problem. Here we have the Swedish version of Bare Necessities: [link] (How ever the sound is not synced to the video just so you know XD)

Not really, a lot of dubbed movies I watched as a kid I hate the voice acting in actually... Or I just can't decide which one I like better (in this case we have Frollo since I like both versions) XD

nothing like the classics! I even liked the semi spin off Talespin, when I was a kid.

great work!

With a theme song like Talespin, it couldn't be anything other than entertaining. But yeah, the movie was the real gem!

Thanks a lot for the comment and support!

"The Bare Necessities of life will come to you!"
Great Tribute to Walt Disney's last film. It's cool that you saw part of The Nostalgia Critic's Disneycember reviews too, have you by any chance seen them all yet?

I have seen em all, or at least most of em. They're interesting and entertaining, though I certainly don't fully agree (this movie being a perfect example).

Thanks a lot for the comment here, pal!
