Thanks, the reason I did it this way was that I wanted an against-the-light photo of the dragonfly and also if I had tried to go around it, it would have seen me and most probably flown away Thanks for the comment.

Rule of thirds isn't always appropriate. I like that the dragonfly is on the other side. It gives the wings more impact. Another good one

I took this photo with my old Powershot a310 and I used all kinds of different lenses with it that were not even meant for photography, mostly ones I got from my old telescope Thanks for the comment.
