Description Ink on paper
August 2015

After a while's absence being busy with education and work, I'm finally back making art! I haven't done stippling since junior-high school, so that's probably about 11 years!  It's time to revisit this underrated technique and make it into an instrument to glorify God!

Viderunt eam filiae Sion, et beatissimam praedicaverunt, et reginae laudaverunt eam.
R. Deo gratias.

HYMN

O gloriosa virginum
Sublimis inter sidera
Qui te creavit, parvulum
Lactente nutris ubere.

Quod Heva tristis abstulit,
Tu reddis almo germine;
Intrent ut astra flebiles,
Cali recludis cardines.

Tu Regis alti janua,
Et aula lucis fulgida;
Vitam datam per Virginem,
Gentes redemptae plaudite.

Jesu, tibi sit gloria,
Qui natus es de Virgine,
Cum Patre, et almo Spiritu,
In sempiterna sacula. Amen.

The daughters of Sion saw her, and declared her most blessed: and the queens, they praised her.
R. Thanks be to God.

HYMN

O Queen of all the virgin choir!
Enthron'd above the starry sky!
Who with pure milk from thy own breast
Thy own Creator didst supply.

What man had lost in hapless Eve,
Thy sacred womb to man restores;
Thou to the wretched here beneath
Hast open'd Heaven's eternal doors.

Hail, O refulgent Hall of light!
Hail, Gate sublime of Heaven's high King!
Through thee redeem'd to endless life,
Thy praise let all the nations sing.

O Jesu! born of Virgin bright,
Immortal glory be to thee;
Praise to the Father infinite,
And Holy Ghost eternally. Amen.

 Lauds from the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Not only does she crush the old serpent, but her big toe is in its eye! Nice!

Why is She depicted barefoot in all of her paintings? Please reply nicely...

Hey, that's a good question actually! In all honesty, I don't know. However, if I may make an educated guess... Her being barefoot is to signify her humility and love of poverty. The Blessed Virgin embodies beauty in both majesty and simplicity, so even though she is a Queen, she is still depicted barefoot.

...just a side note, you don't need to capitalise the S in "she" when referring to the Virgin Mary, because she's not a god/goddess, never was and never will be
