It's definitely African (inspired by general West African aesthetics/ armor/ animals). I actually really enjoy illustrating/ writing African-inspired fantasy in particular. Misty jungles, deadly deserts, lost temples, ancient empires, dangerous megafauna (and that's before any fantasy elements have even been added).
I also want to see more epic African fantasy art/ stories/ whatever. It's a shame that so much mainstream fantasy is actively "generic medieval Europe/ Asia" in its flavor, when the world, and history (and prehistory), is so rich with possible inspirations.
I mean it's *fantasy*; it could be anything. Africa, India, Mesopotamia, Mesoamerica, hybrids, utterly alien, etc. There are even cultures in European history that rarely get touched on in proper fantasy, like the ancient tribal Celts/ Germans/ etc. (not "Celtic Christmas Carols" Celtic, but the pagan, scalp-hunting warriors covered in blue war paint, worshiping nature gods and fighting one-eyed fey-giants etc.).
Anyway, thanks!

I'm a writer and I'm currently trying to develop my world. I ran across this because I was searching "African Fantasy Army", it's really inspiring.

The detail that you DO have is just awesome, particularly in how far away that city is, yet how much detail is there.
Also, I like how you handled the soldiers as they move into the distance... the fading of details is a great touch!!

Thanks!
People do say it looks like Jabba's palace, but I wasn't even thinking of it; more like making these

into palaces/huge structures.

Well, must be the concentration, the precision... is always hard to work with ink... specially because u cannot make mystakes XD

Thanks!
I usually put in 300% more detail than I need with inks, adding texture with lines and such, which I tried not to do with this one. Everybody's their own worst critic!
