Love the balance of the bold blank band + the softness of her face (as well as the embellishments from the black band and hair). It is as if she is either emerging from the black band (as if it were a censorship marker) or hiding beneath.

The production designer in me does not necessarily like her shirt, but it is a minute comparison to the overall message of the piece. It is not distracting or anything; I just noticed it because DA insisted on a 100-word critique. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/let… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="395" title=" (Lick)"/>

I do, however, love the black band around her neck (as does the shirt), which fades to white. Subtle yet symbolic of my derived takeaway of this work.

Beautiful work. Can't wait to see more!

I think the title of this piece 'Blindfold Goddess' is very fitting.

The black paint that comes across the girl's eyes functions as the blindfold. Even though she is blindfolded her eyes are still seen. This is disconcerting because if she were truly blindfolded she shouldn't be able to make eye contact with the viewer. I think the message of this piece is that 'one is able to be see clearly by being blind'.

With this conclusion I am reminded of Tiresias and Lady Justice. Tiresias, in Greek mythology, is known to be a blind prophet and a gifted clairvoyant. Lady Justice who is used as a symbol of balance, fairness, and objectivity in government is also depicted with a blindfold.

When I looked up Agnes Cecile's name meaning I found out that her name can be roughly translated into 'Pure Blindness'. With that being said it makes it more apparent that the title, art work, and artist are intimately linked.

Bravo Cecile!

I sense there is a deeper meaning to this painting....not just a beautiful portrait of a beautiful woman

Really love this paint, even if it's not my favorite one from Agnes Cecile. I like the fact that with only few lines she creates a whole body whose we guess more about than we actually see. The few fine colors that she puts to some strategic parts of this piece add intensity to the paint. The simplicity of the character could have made the painting insipid but the large deep black line of the background creates an interesting contrast with the subject of the painting. At last, I really like the name of this painting and endless possibilities of meaning that it brings.

Amazing work, can wait for the next one!

absolutely stunning! Title reminded me of the following poem

That Justice is a blind goddess
Is a thing to which we black are wise:
Her bandage hides two festering sores
That once perhaps were eyes.

however the eyes in this aren't festering sores, instead they are incredibly detailed and lifelike. This whole image is beautiful
